You guys are nuts. Shoop is gonna kill offenses this year. We lose to Bama then play them or lsu in the title game and win. Done...Unless Fuente finds a way to beat us then it's all over.

I highly doubt we blow Florida out. They will still field a very good defense. If we do win, I would say its by either 3 or 7.

Michigan beat them badly.

We should have won by 13 last year in the swamp if we could stop them on 4th down.

I think 21+ points victory is possible.

Florida will be worse on defense. Plus I could see us scoring a defensive and special teams TD.

My early prediction is:

45-14

It's a statistically safe call. Butch has improved win total by 2 each year. As long as we win the bowl game we have 11 wins.

I think he is not too off base on A&M. Their craziness has settled down bringing in Trevor night, they have a lot of speed on the edges, and their d line is at least decent. Secondary is a toss up for them but we haven't been burning the fly routes. Georgia and A&M on the road are the two games where it seems it could go any direction. That's what it feels like preseason anyways, if we are blowing teams out through GA and A&M falls apart etc or vice versa. A&M starting to get more hype based on Knight's performance and leadership. We will see if overrated or not

Improving by two wins a year is a good measure, but there's a problem now that everyone needs to start considering. Improvement from 5 wins with no bowl to 7 wins including a bowl was achievable. Going from 7 wins to 9 wins including a bowl was a good step, but both were facilitated by a couple of overrated Big 10 teams.

Continuing to improve the numbers is far more difficult now because positions at the top of the pyramid are fewer and the competition tougher - it's simply not a linear progression. The difference is not in beating teams like MO, SC, KY, VU and ramping up to add a team like GA; it means winning the much tougher games like AL, FL, and GA consistently without falling victim to a lesser team on "one of those any given Saturdays."

Tennessee has almost forever had a front loaded schedule, and the wins at the end of the season against easier competition generate a little too much optimism for the next season. So let's hope that this coming season really goes as well we think it may.

MI didn't play the same FL team that we did. We won't be playing the same FL team MI did, so not much to go on with that particular part of the comparison.

For the other part, let's hope bullfrogs have started sprouting wings, and that what happens through most of the game actually determines the outcome.

That was last year which has no bearing on this year. UF will be a tough game. I hope it is a blowout but I am not expecting it. if we win by 1 point, I will be happy.

I've said before, but I really expect this game to play out similarly to last year's game score wise, minus the defensive collapse.

If this proves to be true that means its been since 2007 since Tennessee has won a road game against the west. And since 2010 since Tennessee has beaten a team from the west.

This is crazy! Here we go again! We are running our mouths about the Florida game again but will end up embarrassed because we will lose by 1 or 2 points.
This will further add to our frustrations.

Let's keep this in perspective! In 1998, we had one of our best teams ever at U.T. We played Florida at Neyland and we had a strong defense. It took all that we had and even an overtime to win the game. Not only that, we didn't win the game by our play, but we won the game because Florida's kicker made a mistake.

If we had to struggle until the very end just to get a win at home, with one of the best teams U.T. has ever had, then how can we expect to beat them in a regular game?

This team is better than the 98 team and the Gators are way worse.

That is truly the worst reasoning I've heard someone make in trying to predict the result of this years game.

You would be better off just saying Florida has good athletes and a great defense so it's unlikely we blow them out.

Digging up a game from 18 years ago to prove anything about what will happen this year is moronic.

We keep getting better. We were so close last year, and return most of the players that got us that close. Add some Juco and freshman talent to the mix and we have improved even more.

It's all about the Vols. How long can we keep this upward trajectory?

And if you are so confident that "we will lose by 1 or 2 points", place your bet now, according to you it's a lock.

And to think you are calling fans out for crazy talk.

See you in Tampa.

No denying A&M has some talented players, but there's something amiss with their program. Those QB defections makes me wonder. Knight is a solid QB, but that team doesn't appear to be unified with everyone pulling in the same direction. They may have a great season, but a 6-6 year from them wouldn't surprise me either.

That's patently ridiculous. This is still a very good Florida team. We may not even win the game period! To think that we could beat them that bad is ridiculous! We haven't even seen what Florida is going to be like this year. He's an idiot

Way worse? Where's your evidence that Florida is going to be "Way worse" in 2016 over where they were in 2015. I want to see this.

Take your time. I'll leave my light on for you.

I think we beat Bama, but that A&M game looks like it could be a trap game and you know Chief will be looking to shut down the run game.

This post starts with the comment that this year's Tennessee Football team is better than the 98 team and ends with calling another post "moronic."

His post may fall just short of being the dumbest post of the year but it is certainly the most ironic post of the year.

Everybody looked to shut down our run game last year and look what happened. We ended up with the 2nd best rushing attack in school history.

No, this team is not better than the 98 team. You could say, "I think this team is better than the 98 team," and I'd simply disagree. To state as fact it is better is, to use your word, moronic. I also don't think this FL team is as good as their 98 team. I do expect a solid win for UT.

Remove "moronic" and replace with something like "absurd," and I'd agree with the last sentence.

So previous games from the past don't matter for UF but previous games matter for us? Hmmmmm very interesting take.
