Clay Travis Live Derek Dooley Interview Thread

It's a bit concerning to think what Dooley's agenda might be. The last thing UT needs is for the media to have new material that paints the university and the football program in a negative light. And there was nothing positive about the Dooley era.

I thought about that too. But I can't see that doing anything but backfiring right on him, and I doubt he wants to risk his cushy coaching gig in Dallas

He has no credibility. He could say each player was given a counterfeit money printing machine for all I care.

My guess is that it will be a passive-aggressive interview. Dooley's a personable guy, but he has a rapier wit. He will say what he thinks will further his agenda without trashing UT, but the media will spin it for headlines. I just don't see this as a positive for UT-- not right now. But it's in his best interests to play nice, so maybe he will.

Chesney is a Tennessee fan, but he is also an SEC fan. Hence his confusing behavior.

Chesney is a fan of the local team he is catering to at a particular moment in time. If he were playing in Gainsville the night before the UT / UF game, he would wear Gator attire. If he was playing in Knoxville, he would wear UT attire - and that is the problem.

If one is a fan of everyone, they are really a fan of no one.

A Derek Dooley interview won't be a headline anywhere unless there are allegations of major violations and farm animals.

UT made the ESPN ticker for closing classes for gameday logistics. Anything involving UT is fodder for headlines. We'll see...

so far the comments are more entertaining than the interview. We are just now getting to Saban hiring him back in 1999

"i DON'T KNOW A GUY WHO COULD WORK WITH NICK FOR TWO OR MORE YEARS AND NOT BE AN Xs AND Os GUY. ASK THE COACHES I WORKED WITH IF I'M A BALL GUY"

I take it back. This is going to be a puff piece. Easy lobs and careful answers. Nothing controversial-- Dooley's trying to polish his image.

Everything about him tonight is just...oily. You know? The way he's talking, the way he looks, the way he's sitting, his posture--it's all just

blech.
