There's already a DD thread. I'm confused -- which one will DD tell all of the good stuff, this one or the other one?

Clay and Dooley. Two imbeciles having a conversation.

Why does Clay get so much hate on here. He's a diehard Tennessee fan that says what he wants to say. I listen to him on Mondays with Chris Vernon in Memphis and everytime Vernon tries to throw TN under the bus he stand up for us.

He's also a bumbling fool that jumped onto the Franklin Vandy ship throwing Tennessee under many times. But mostly just a bumbling fool. I actually think Dools will be able to outwit him and negate Clay asking any real questions. I have no faith in Clay Travis to pull off a respectable interview tonight.

derek dooley--one of the worst hiring decisions in the history of football: college or pro

Good position coach. No doubt about that. You don't keep jobs in this business without being at least somewhat competent. Head coach? Ummmmm....nope!

If we're being serious, I think Chesney is a Tennessee fan. He was born in Knoxville (graduated from Gibbs, as I recall) and has performed two songs about Tennessee football, one in honor of John Ward and another commemorating the '98 championship. He also narrated "The Color Orange - The Condredge Holloway Story" which aired in the 30 for 30 series. That's going to a lot of trouble to just pretend to be a fan... He will also, however, kiss up and wear the hat (or do the Gator chomp with Tebow) for whichever home crowd he is in front of on a given day. That rubs Vol fans the wrong way but he is a business man first.

Back to Dooley: Three specific games that should be brought up: LSU '10, Kentucky '11 and Missouri '12. He should also be asked to explain his apparent indifference to in-state talent and his logic in not signing a single O-lineman in an entire class. My guess is that Travis conducts a softball interview and addresses none of the above.

Chesney is a Tennessee fan, but he is also an SEC fan. Hence his confusing behavior.

I think Clay got on the UT bad side when he called us one of the stupidest fan bases in America.

That being said, he's been absolutely hardcore about defending UT in this Title IX thing and was one of the first media guys outside of our media to eviscerate the Tennesseean's hack reporting job.

My guess is that if Dooley allows himself to say something stupid or bitter, Clay will curb stomp him.

Clay Travis is not a Tennessee fan. He'll even say so himself. I don't mind him personally. And like Ms. Celina said, I appreciate his actual reporting of the Manning accusation, instead of being like the rest of the media and jumping on the 'hate and lies with no proof' bandwagon.

And to other posters, Kenny Chesney is definitely a Tennessee fan and a good friend of Peyton Manning. I don't understand the hate there.

He was also one of the few in the media to come to Peyton Manning's defense back in February following Shaun King's hit piece in the NY Daily News... and he called Tennessee "trash" during the 1st half of the Georgia game last year when we were down 24-3 (but didn't eat crow when we came back and won). Tennessee fans will also remember the Franklin boot-licking he did from '11-'13. Clay has a complicated relationship with the Vol fan base to say the least.

There's no doubt Clay Travis can be pret-ty obNOXious if he wants to be. And he usually does. But he's smart--built a pretty amazing media business for and around himself (despite that Vanderbilt law degree) and knows how to generate buzz by pissing SEC fan bases off.

It will be interesting to see how he approaches Dooley. I thought about emailing him some questions, but most of them wouldn't make it past the censors.

Nah. I'm not bitter. Not at all.

Very true. He's a VU alumni, so he crowed loudly when Vandy actually had a good football team. I have a sneaking suspicion that his real mastery professionally is making all of us pay attention to what he says/does.

Agreed. I personally think the interview will go like this: dooley will blame the fans and his ex-players for his failure and then they will sit back and have a chuckle over how Tennessee became a huge joke under his tenure.

I'll be passing on watching/reading this interview.

He is an idiot. I remember the time he claimed Manning to the Titans was a done deal.
