This whole idea cracks me up. Vandy Law degree, author of 3 books, writer for fanhouse and co-host of a radio show and he's in his early thirties. I'd be willing to say that he is more successful than 99% of the posters on here. Whether you agree with what he says or not, don't act like you wouldn't switch jobs with him in a heartbeat.
Clearly if CDD inherited a program with a semblance of stability, we could assume that the issues facing this team would find their genesis with him. This however would be ludicrous and down right foolish. Only one with no football, or coaching, knowledge would assume that every player would buy into CDD's program. The kids burned by kiffin have clearly shown signs of lack of trust in the coaching staff. Therefor, join the rest of us who live in reality, and remember that the state of the program was five years in the making. There is not one individual who thought that this season would have been any better than it has been thus far. A true Volunteer would spend less time bashing a staff who began their tenure in a hole, and be patient. Get over the fact that this season there will be no Championship title, and support our boys and their coaches.
Brent's the one I don't get. A huge Tennessee fan trying so hard to come off as unbiased he craps on us every chance he gets. Clay's just another pathetic Candy fan...
my degree is from UT so I feel no desire to switch places with a Vandy fan. One doesn't have to be jealous to call out a bad article (and he's had plenty)
I want a job where I do nothing but take potshots at people and don't have to account to anybody for anything.
Travis will do whatever sells. Remember, he is the guy who asked Tebow at Media Days if he was still a virgin. Now that's reporting!
that's great that he bought a t-shirt and decided UT was his team but that doesn't mean he's right
He's always been a UT fan. He is a fan because his granddad played for Robert Neyland and he spent as much time as he could watching games with and talking football with his grandfather. From middle Tennessee, parents both UT fans.
He is just as much a fan as anyone else, and he might not be right, but it sure doesn't mean he's wrong.
I think you're confusing Brent with Clay. Brent's grandfather hired Neyland. Nathan Dougherty, I believe his names on a building.
Clay is just calling it like he sees it. Some of our fans seem to think that there should be zero accountability for anything that happens this year because the talent is down. I don't think that Dooley has performed poorly enough to get fired after one season but I do think that if the team goes 0-8 or 1-7 in conference and he does not sign some recruits who are legitimate SEC starters coming out of Summer practice then the leash needs to get alot shorter. If recruiting and the record look anything like they do now this time next year then I will be 100% in favor of axing him immediately and hiring whoever is the next best option.

That's where I tend to agree with Clay. Hamilton did not hire a proven program rebuilder like a Saban or Butch Davis. With a proven guy it's easy for me as a fan to buy into the idea of letting the process play out. With an unproven guy I'm apt to get more and more skittish with each loss and ho-hum recruiting commitment. Dooley was really good for our collective psyche in December but it's wearing off fast. That's the rub; with an unproven guy in a depleted situation, the decision to keep him and let him build or cut him loose because things aren't working has to be forward looking. Is there anybody on the Hill capable of making that evaluation?
OK, so if we are ranked inside the top 25 (our recruiting ranking right now) in the nation, you will want to fire Coach Dooley. Ok, Gotcha. Good call....
