cutcliffe would want the job, but is probably not worth the $3-$4 million he would demand.

Clay is an idiot. During the Manning sweepstakes this summer, he essentially declared on Knoxville radio that Manning to the Titans was a done deal.

So did lots of people.

Shannon Sharpe (inside info for Broncos) was tweeting that he would be a Titan.

“A lot of times we think the grass is greener on the other side. You don’t walk away when you’re building a program,” Strong said. “And then I look at the players that I recruited here. I told them to come here for me and for this university, and then all of a sudden I get a shot to work somewhere else and I walk away from them? I’m just not cut like that.”

To all the Grudenites out there,,,,,,,,,,,,,,it will be a cold day in h e double hockey sticks before he is at UT. Get over yourselves and support the program. If that is too much to ask then go get on Franklin's nizzutzz and pull for Vandy!!!!!!! You bunch of freaking losers!

nizzutzz? Really?

Someone must have uninstalled the NetNanny program on your computer.

You go after Gruden first...HARD...If he says no a minimum of 10 times then you focus on Chris Peterson...Who I think is without doubt one of the top coaches in the game...What he does with what little talent he gets is amazing...Strong isn't involved in this conversation...Petrino is a last ditch effort if he is still available...Regardless of his personal record the man can coach and has been a winner everywhere he's been.

Coach "Boise State Coach"

We've only had 2 coaching searches in the past 5 years and have been speculating on this board for a new coach for the last 10.

The next coach will have to be a big enough splash to keep what "good" recruits that have verbally commited.

For every program, not just Tennessee, fans have a hard time separating a wish list from a reality list.

Happens every time.

Been saying that all along.
A lot of posters will get a big reality check once all this Gruden talk is finally put to bed.

everybody keeps talking about Texas like thier getting rid of Mack Brown! I think this is ridiculous. He is going to get at least a couple of more years and thats if he has a bad season. He is a proven recruiter and winner, at a tradition rich program that loves him and thier football. barring a complete meltdown he's not going anywhere. IMHO

I like how he throws LA TECH's coach in there. Who recruited the guys playing for LA TECH. Lol

I don't see why more people aren't pushing for Petrino. Sure, he's kind of scummy and had off the field issues, but he wins. I know we want to avoid another Kiffin, but with his past I don't think Petrino will get the call for other schools that could outpay us. Out of the choices, he is the most realistic to get at this point.

Gruden, Carroll, & Petersen are not coming. I even doubt that Mullen & Strong would leave their current schools. They seem too committed and I'm not sure if they are worth a huge contract and that is what it would take to get them here.

Neither Franklin or Petrino belong on that list. Otherwise a decent piece by Travis.

Yeah. It kind of worked out for LT. He's the only guy who has proven he can follow Dooley and win football games.

That said, I doubt he's the guy.

I don't know why everyone wants to settle for Petrino. Here are the reasons I don't want him:

1. Left a mess pretty much everywhere he's been
2. Can't beat Saban
3. Is not a good recruiter (and his recruiting will be further hampered by his current debacle)
4. PR Nightmare
5. History of getting blown out in big games

Gruden is the only one that interests me. Peterson also but I feel he will not leave Boise.
I want Dooley to succeed the grass is not always greener, but to get Gruden more than likely would be a step in the right direction.

Agree with you Oregonvol
Petrino is a step back..........nothing good has happened in the aftermath of the tornado known as Petrino

Yes really. If Gruden was going to come here he would have come two years ago. You people are freaking amazing. I have seen 12 year olds with more common sense than the the average VolNation poster!!!!!!!!

Hard to do but you just lowered the common sense level to 5 year olds.
