All I ever saw was that he said the offense never bought into his plan.

This give me hope for the future. If that is true most of the disaster of last year was due to the offense being confused and demoralized.

Unfortunately this only explains part of the pitiful QB play.

Phillip never fired him. He sank with the philtanic. I'd say he knew it was coming.

On that Sunday, Phill-up asked Hamilton to wait until Monday to release the news of his firing so he could tell his assistants/coordinators. Clawson found out he was fired by hearing it on the news.:eek:lol:

He should have manned up and said his offense sucked and wasn't meant for the SEC instead of blaming the kids. I know if I'm one of those kids that's a Senior, I'm not going to buy into an offense that needs a "2 year plan"

Even though Clawson's notice of termination is hilarious, can we not bring up Clawson or his inept offense ever again...EVER:horse:

I disagree with this. As far as I know... Florida runs a similar offense. Seems to be working just fine for them and it's not all Tim Tebow. Chris Leak won a National Championship too.

Florida's offense isn't similar to Clawson's. Yeah Urban Meyer's spread option has worked out great for them but Clawson ran a West Coast offense.

"Meyer's first two years at Florida skewed toward a drop-back passing attack led by Chris Leak, while Alex Smith and Tim Tebow led an option run-based spread"

I don't know... I never noticed anything drastically different. Other than the fact wide receivers were running the wrong routes and linemen didn't pick up blocks.

I think Clawson was a bad hire, and wasn't really intrigued by his scheme - but there is something to be said about how successful he was until last year. I've been told that he was never even given the full opportunity to do his thing, not sure it would've ever worked, but its a raw deal when you never get the full chance. I think he will do OK at Bowling Green.

Right it was like that, but it was like that because IMO Urban molded that offense to fit the players he had those first 2 years. IMO what UF runs now is truer to the form of what he wanted to run when he went down there. I'm not disagreeing with what you said or trying to argue with you by any means but what I'm saying is that Urban Meyer made his offense fit the personel he had, Clawson tried to bring his offense in and just run it. I know it wasn't just his fault, but he would have had a better showing if he woulda tweaked it a little bit.

Bad quarterback play and cream puff linemen will make any scheme look bad. Throw in mediocre receivers and you really have a problem.

I agree. Rich Rodriguez couldn't make it work in Michigan his first year either. I think another year or two and the players would have ran it better because they understood the offense. Not to mention recruiting the right players for the system would make a world of difference. Michigan might be rolling shortly with Tate Forcier or Devin Gardner. I hate Michigan so I hope they fail but Michigan will look so much better with the right quarterbacks coming in for the system. Too bad Clawson couldn't have started out with Amanti Edwards at Tennessee. It is what it is though. Sucks it didn't work out but I am happy with the new staff. Had it not failed so miserably we wouldn't have the staff we do so in the end I'm happy. I hate thinking about last season... miserable. Will be forgotten if Tennessee comes out and wins 9 games this year. I think it's achievable.

Michigan will be tough when that system gets rolling and Rodriguez gets his players in, they will be competing for thd Big 10 regularly. I just don't think Clawson's offense would have worked in the SEC.
