Do those of you who have had your DirecTV knocked out on a constant basis live somewhere in the Amazon?

Mine has went out during downpours once or twice... But never more than around two minutes.

Not really. They thought it was because at first the just had the dishes mounted on a pole in my front yard, so they came out and mounted them on the roof instead. It was okay for a while but eventually it was the same ole story. Heavy rain = no tv for sometimes 25 minutes with DirecTV where I live.

Oh ok.

I have heard war stories, but knock on wood... I haven't experienced any issues.

They have mounted the dish in different areas but it's just not a good area for satelite I guess.

My direct tv is pretty horrible as well.

Interesting reading the pro and con on DirecTV. There seems to be very little gray area: you either love it or hate it. I've got to say that it seems far too many of you lose their satellite signal too often----how annoying! That alone is reason enough to switch to cable.

That being said, I have had DirecTv for 8 years and have lost signal only TWO times-----of course, I live in Arizona and we rarely have overcast skies much less rain.

Doesn't mean I have to have any sympathy. If you choose cable over DirecTV, you get what you deserve.

Direct TV sucks. Their hardware is terrible. Dish network is by far the better choice of satellite. Never had a problem with them and the setup on dish is slick.
