What's even more mind-blowing is this game was made by something like 30 people.I'm not very far into it at all (say, thirty minutes) and the limited combat thus far/general atmosphere of the game and scale make it feel like the true successor to Final Fantasy X that we've been missing for the last 2.5 decades.
I get that Square Enix still makes turn based JRPGs, but nothing on the scale of legacy Final Fantasy offerings. I strongly suspect that this will fill the void for me.
No one has commented in a minute, so I will. This game is absurdly good. It's a watershed moment for gaming in general.
AAA games have been catching a lot of flak, and rightfully so. AA games have been having a moment this gen and Expidition 33 is going to be the poster child for them. It may well be game of the year.
You should play it.
I would go so far as to say AA games have kind of defined this generation, for me at least. Games like Kena: Bridge of Spirits, Sifu, A Plague Tale: Requiem, Stray, Lies of P, Helldivers 2, Clair Obscure, Stellar Blade, Rise of The Ronin, Balatro, Blackmyth Wukong, It Takes Two, Split Fiction, etc have all been great examples of terrific games that studios didn't break the bank to make.No one has commented in a minute, so I will. I would agree. Hellblade, Pacific Drive, Vampyr, Robocop Rouge City, Cult of The Lamb, Evil West, Atom Fall, Sea of Stars, Hades, Hi Fi Rush, Ori and The Will of the Wisps, Control and the list goes on. Most of what I've played in the last few years are AA and indie games.I would go so far as to say AA games have kind of defined this generation, for me at least. Funny you bring that up.I spent so much time on the first Death Stranding that a sequel intrigues me… but I really don’t want to rock that daggum baby again. Horrible mechanic.
