CJP will have say on Smokey Grey Uni's

No, there’s two other uniforms

Point being. We've got our ass kicked in just about any uniform we've worn for more than a decade now. It's time to get some folks in here to make sure those days are few and far between. Pruitt seems to be going at it clearly and quietly.

Didn't mean to hit a nerve. Sorry.

I know you didn't and I should have replied accordingly.

Our identity on the field is as inviolable as any time-honored tradition related to Tennessee football and not an issue to be taken lightly.

My apologies for any personal affront, but no apologies for standing for the freedom of discussion.

I believe that Orange and White flashing down the field makes a QB's job a lot easier. I don't like the gray jerseys. I support the traditional jerseys and lots of wins.

I can't take credit for this comparison. Another board member who's much more clever than I initially pointed out the similarities, but this pretty much sums up my thoughts on that gray uniform.

Does this make you feel better?

+1 for “inviolable”

The “checkerboard” in the uniform is too cute for my taste.

Players and recruits like a winning tradition more than gimmicks that cover up bad coaching. You'll never see Bama go to a elephant gray.

FFS, its not one or the other.

In 2015, the winningest programs of the previous 10 years were:

1. Boise State — 113 wins
2. Ohio State — 110 wins
3. Alabama — 107 wins
4. Oregon — 106 wins
5. LSU — 103 wins

4 of 5 had alternate unis. Oregon practically had ONLY alternate unis. Winning and getting pumped about unis are not mutually exclusive. Get a different argument.

I like the Grays. What it does is give a 3rd color for clothing. When you have an Orange and White Logo of some sort, the gray allows the two color logo to stand out. Take a look at the VN Golf Classic Logo and imagine how it would look on an orange or a white shirt.

The Gray helmets solved the problem. I think the black jerseys would look good with a shiny orange helmet with Black T's and Orange Pants.

1997 had the best UT unifoms in my lifetime. adidas got these right. Hopefully Nike could do something similar.

I like these, too, though i think removing the black stroke on the away jerseys was the right move. I like the names in orange, instead of black as they were in that era, as well.

A thousand times this.
If the players like Smokey Grey ...or any damn color they want, it's their team!

Don't like it? Buy tickets to the squaresdance instead.

Show up for work and try that. "It's my company, and I'll do the job I want - when I want." Try graduating under the premise that UT is your school and you'll decide which courses you'll take and how many of them suit you. Try "It's my street, and I'll decide the traffic rules."

It just doesn't work that way. And for the record, players participate on the team; but they are a long way from "owning" it. For the time being, at least, we are still a capitalist country - not one owned by collectives and run by a committee of members.

To each their own - I hated the black around the numbers. Black is not a UT color. Black is Vandy's color.

I guess it's a matter of when you grow up. I was a kid in the mid-90's and remember when UT put the black on the road uni. They then proceeded to dominate on the road.

The road uni without black trim looks weird. I think the orange pops off nicely from the black trim.
