Of course the unknown makes you apprehensive hoping for the best. But to protect the team integrity he's right and smart to play it like Vito Corleone would play it. It's gonna be like Christmas morning watching that offense form up outta the huddle.

Something he learned from Saban. Keep the media and the opponent guessing.
Yeah, it makes me wonder till then. I’m so glad we are playing first game, meaningful tough games again. No more cupcake. Has it’s advantages but give it all you have from day one

I'm honestly just ready for everyone to see how good we are.

People are VASTLY underestimating the degree to which the previous coaching staff held this team back. The easiest way I know to explain it is this - Most coaching staffs would have had last year's team at 8-4, 7-5 at worst because we should have beaten Florida, South Carolina, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt. Now consider that we are returning 16 starters not including Ty Chandler and have added a graduate transfer from Alabama who will start at one of our weakest positions from a year ago, the #1 JUCO tight end in the country who will start at one of our weakest positions from a year ago, a graduate transfer from Stanford who adds depth at QB, and other guys who have drawn praise like Alontae Taylor, Jordan Allen, Emmit Gooden, Trevon Flowers, and Bryce Thomson... AND we've added a bunch of coaches with proven success.

I have no idea why more national writers are talking about the Vols, but I'm glad they aren't. This team will have a chip on their shoulder which makes them even more dangerous. I've never been more excited to watch a team in my life.

Exactly! This team has so much untapped talent. Most of these guys were 4* out of high school. They can’t all be a bust. CJP and staff of teachers, I saw a post of fingers where the dlineman were right up on the ball (not 2 yards off the ball) practicing hard counts. No one flinched sooo happy to see that. Wide receivers getting out of a freaking sprinters stance, CB on the WR not 6 yards back. The previous regime was full of morons. This talent/coaching duo should surprise a lot of folks. And I personally can’t wait for it

I think his approach is what we need as a fan base. No more dumb cliches and coach speak. It’s kind of refreshing actually. Creates more team unity knowing the head coach isn’t going to throw anyone under the bus at a presser.

ATTENTION ALL TENNESSEE VOL FANS:

This is your 1 week warning notice to get yourselves prepared and ready to rock.

Break out those battle flags, shake out those pom poms, clean off those car magnets and get yourselves into game day shape.

Get your best Big Orange shirts ready to go.

Do a practice tailgate and watch a NFL game and scream your lungs out to get them back in shape.

The coaches and the boys have been working hard and now it's our time to get ourselves ready to show the world, once again, who the best, most fired up fans in the world really are.

We have to be just as ready as our coaches and players are so get it all together and be ready to ROCK this world!

You might be a tad more optimistic than I am, but I'm right there with you. I'm as excited about the real possibilities of winning the games we should win by double digits and at least competing with the big boys. I will be so happy for Bama and Georgia to leave the game thanking God its over.

I seem to be more excited than I've ever been before, every year, but yea, I think I'm more excited than I've ever been before..too..again. :)

I think you may be on to something and I harbor that sentiment as well. However, we really will not know if that is true until we see what Pruitt puts on the field. Let's face it we're the worst team in the SEC until we're not any longer.
