Really? If Mullen wins his next 2 he will have gone 9-3 with 2 wins over ranked SEC teams (23 and 5).

Bama probably going undefeated and win another NC.

I mean, I have no clue how its decided, but I would love to Jeremy get it.

Without a doubt. He would have doubled the number of wins from last year, plus got a late start on the 2018 recruiting class.

Our coach is the best!

Only reason I would disagree is because we were 0-8 in the SEC last year where UF was 3-5. Has Mullen done a good? Absolutely and I expect more of the same but I think Pruitt beating 2 ranked SEC teams coming off of last year is pretty good. Can he get the team to play like that every week is the question, IMO.

Behr weren’t we all told Mullen was “meh” black during the coaching search? That said, Mullen is meeting expectations based on what he’s accomplished in the past. Pruitt is exceeding them because he had no experience as a HC coming in and has a little less to work with than UF.

I've never understood the Coach of the Year awards.

Seriously. Don't get what they mean.

We all know Saban is without doubt the best coach in college football today. Possibly the best of all time. And he coaches more or less equally well every single year (he, and his teams, are remarkably consistent).

So why isn't he the coach of the year, every year of the past decade, for all the organizations that select a CoY?

So it's clearly not "best coach of the year." Maybe it's "coach who made the most surprising splash (in a good way) this year"? That would explain it? Maybe?

Just don't get that award.

JP winning out would be impressive imo. Moreso than Mullen because he's a first yr hc taking a 4-8, 0-8 sec team to 7-5, 4-4 sec with 2 wins over sec ranked teams with less talent.

Yea, I was one of those that said that about Mullen. Im still glad we didn't get him. Just my personal feelings though. Anyway, I'm not considering my personal feelings, just the job he's done and he's done a fine job.

Now, I was just debating all of this with a friend and trying to be fair. I agree, I think JP has done the better job.

Tubberfield won it twice, and UT only two winners in past 50 years. That being said, there's also alot of fired coaches on the list. I think Pruitt would be ok going 7-5 and not winning it...

I am a Pruitt fan, but I don't think he is there yet. The dark lord over at Alabama is probably coach of the year, especially in the SEC. Then you have Kirby and Coach O that have been solid. I know we just beat up on Kentucky this weekend, but Stoops has done pretty well with what he has there. First year coaches, Mullen and Fisher have done well. I think Pruitt is worth being in the conversation. But with SEC being the best conference, there is a lot of competition in all aspects.
