After Butch was announced, I checked with as many Cincinnati web sites and other sources to try to learn about him.
This is what I learned back then:

Pros:
Tremendous energy and work ethic
Very positive and optimistic
Great in living rooms with recruits families
Great with former players
Polite and friendly to his staff and univ community.

Cons:
Corny and cliche ridden rhetoric
Extremely stubborn
Not good with in game decisions.
Loyal to a fault with assistant coaches.
Will stretch truth to suit his purposes.

Sure sounds like what we've experienced, right?
But, all of that pales to wins and losses.
Can Butch bring us championships?
I'm still in the "I don't know" camp.
The inordinate amount of key injuries still makes this season very difficult to give a definite analysis.
I still WANT him to be the RIGHT guy.
Winning these last three is obviously VERY important.
GO VOLS!

Like everyone who takes on a new job with increased responsibilities and expectations...

CBJ is on a learning curve on what coaching means in the SEC.

The question is, will the fan base stay patient as long as his learning curve takes?

I don't know, but my guess is after year 4 (despite increased wins each season) maybe not. To get to the SECCG and play Alabama to within 7 points would get him an extension and a fan "reprieve".

If he drops one to any of the remaining three (and Vandy looked good against AU), it is very possible the base turns in a vengence.

I agree. However, concerning "learning curve", not saying he can't learn, but is he too STUBBORN to use what he learns??

Somewhat related...

Interim Cincinnati president running for University of Tennessee job

"Beverly J. Davenport, interim president at the University of Cincinnati, will be the second chancellor candidate to visit Knoxville."

O SH__!! Another damn Yankee, I'am not going to use the word woman, what they don't control already they are working on real hard. So guess we men just need to get out of the way. They will be fighting among themselves soon enough. As to the question at hand about admin. openings, do we not have "home grown" folks good enough for these jobs or is the grass always greener on the other side of the fence??

Sounds like convenient memory. Like every pro and con happen to fit perfectly into your storyline. Again very convenient.

Key stat: At Cincy, large majority of his wins were against teams with losing records.

So glad we have this 1,000,000 thread in the last week on the same subject.
