Cincy Coach Speaks

I hope you are right. I think they showed alot EARLY in the last game when the game was still shaking out.

Eh. Even if they did, I think the open date before we play Georgia/the rest of our season will allow for a fair amount of new stuff to be put in.

sounds to me like their coach is passing the buck to the players insinuating that Cincy's defensive play calling was on par with UT's offensive play calling but the players didn't execute. That's poor leadership on his part.

Take your beat down like a man.

Ya know, I got the same feeling from that coach just watching and listening to him. He comes off to me like a hyper-motivated guy who has not really gotten the proper grasp of his team. Watching him "fire up" his WRs on TV before the UT game looked really contrived. Listening to him in post-game sounded somewhat like the above. At least here he put the onus on himself / staff a little.

The guy feels like he's in over his head. JMO.

Rex, where did you find this quote? Lol, At least it wasn't directly from the war room this time.
Signed,
Coldnorth (you should have pasted the link I added as well, there was more interesting info in the rest of the article)

Ran into a guy today from Cincy who went to the game Sat. Hmmm, but we're a 1,000 miles from Knoxville, just outside San Antonio, TX. Anyway, he said that all the people he met from TN were really nice and he didn't meet any jerks. Said he got there early, parked at Calhouns, ate there, and they had a really nice time. Guess there was an accident before the game on the interstate and shut it down for awhile (don't know which one). He said a bunch of TN fans that were going to tailgate just opened their stuff and got out and started tailgating right in the middle of the interstate. LOL. He said they knocked on some of the cincy fans windows and invited them to join them. He had a lot of good things to say about the fans and folks he met in TN. He said not like other places he had been (Penn ST he pointed out) where the fans threw bottles at the opposing team fans. I just thought his comments were interesting and I told him I was jealous because he attended the game and I couldn't.

As to the cincy coach speak posted by Rex, I hope that made sense to some of you but I agee with another poster that sounded like he just blamed the ineffectiveness on the players for not executing. Guess executing can mean different things to different people; you can execute a play, movement, or action but that doesn't mean you are going to be successful with the result.

For sure. I'm sure there is plenty to add, depending on the victim.

I really liked this statement
they’re going to win their share of football games. On whether they’ll face a better passing trio than Tennessee quarterback Tyler Bray and wide receivers Zach Rogers and Justin Hunter:
“Up to this date, I don’t know what the future holds with our future opponents. I’ll tell you they’re as talented of a group as I’ve seen in a long period of time. When we prepare for teams, we talk to coaches and we knew coming into the game that Tennessee possessed probably one of the top two or three offensive lines in the entire conference. That was a very skilled unit. I thought bray was a great quarterback going into the game. They have great backs that run extremely hard. They possess many challenges. Their scheme plays to the strength of their football team and offensive line with all the different play actions they give you. I think They’re a very talent group.”

This was a great post...And I agree with some of the other posters here.. love Chaney as OC, he does an outstanding job. Just hope someone does not pull him away from us with a HC offer.

Interesting he didn't mention the fact that Bray flat picked them apart and Hunter and Rogers just simply ate their lunch.

Tuesdays with Butch: Akron

On Tennessee’s onside kick:

“We knew they were going to do something. They have shown on film, whether on offense on special teams, that they’re going to try to do something to capture momentum for their football team. We actually practiced that every day this week. There is a rule that there is a restraining line of 10 yards. If your guy passes over the 10-yard restraining line, they cannot hit you till the ball goes 10 yards. Our two guys backed up. If they had gone forward to try to recover the ball, they can’t be touched until the ball goes 10 yards. They made a great play. It was executed flawlessly. Their kicker did a great job. The kicker didn’t change up his approach to the ball. Ninety-nine percent of all kickers, when they do the bunt onside, they have to change their approach to the ball and he hit it full stride. They did a great job and hats off to them. It comes back to the fundamental details – we reped it and we stepped back instead of going forward. We’ll see it again and we’ll continue to rep that play.”
