Cignetti in the SEC?

He executes all the training he received in Sabanland as good as Kirby or critobol or hte other HC's in hte CFP that trained in the Saban system. Can prob coach well anywhere he goes.
It will be interesting to see IU's program trajectory going forward. Right now, Cig looks like he's head and shoulders better than Kirby, and Kirby is a damn good coach.

So let me get this straight:

If Alabama had beaten Indiana, it would have proven that Indiana was a joke who played nobody.

But since they beat the s*** out of Alabama, then it proves that Indiana played a soft schedule and that is why they were all firing on all cylinders and why they beat the s*** of Alabama.

These mental gymnastics are getting even more entertaining.

Then when Indiana beats Miami for National Championship, the Narrative will be well Miami plays in that soft ass ACC...

Well that Miami team didnt just beat one SEC team but they beat two SEC to make it to National Championship game...

The SEC window licking by some fans is disgusting... Tennessee fan here and screw rest of SEC..

I get conference pride but too many Tennessee fans take it way too far; to the point they seem like SEC fans first then Tennessee fans.

Not to mention how pathetic it's become. Some of them are like guys in high school who got no action but constantly bragged how much action their friend gets. Or they're like the classic cartoon where the little yappy dog is following the huge dog around and the yappy dog won't shut up about big and bad the big dog is.

LOL oh and add they are cheating to the mix.

My God the loser fans sound like kids on a playground coming up with every excuse in the world as to why they just lost the PE Kickball game.

Cignetti has primarily been a position coach throughout his career. Never was a coordinator. Got his first head coaching gig pretty late in life comparatively speaking at the age of 50 at IUP. Didn’t get a P5 coaching job until 63.

His background is very fascinating to me. It makes me wonder how many other relatively unknown position coaches that are out there that could succeed at the P5 HC level.

Agree. Pretty hard to brag about the SEC these days. No better than the BIG Ten, that’s for sure.

Just hypothetical.

I know Cignetti has done well at Indiana (Incredible, actually - based on Indiana’s football history).

But, I don’t see ANY way that he could just step in and win like that in the SEC.

Especially in this age of NIL & the transfer portal. (I know those are Kiffen’s bread & butter, but even Kiffen hasn’t had Ole Miss ranked as high as Indiana)….

The BIG just isn’t as tough (Top to Bottom) as the SEC. Vandy’s stadium only holds about 40,000 - but still a tougher road game than Perdue. Minnesota? - Please…..

Every year there are about 10 or more SEC teams in the top 25 & maybe 4/5 from the Big 10.

Any thoughts?
Can’t deny what he has accomplished, but we need to see if he can sustain it there or any future location before anointing him with serious accolades.

They kept referencing the age of THIS team, so GUESSING they will lose a ton of this squad, and of course the Heistman Trophy winner. Can he stay in the conversation? TBD.

I do appreciate the apparent class of the leadership of his squad that I have seen. Loved his decision making tonight.

So now he has to sustain Indiana as a national power to be taken seriously.

Dude goes 27-2 with back to back playoff appearances and a 16-0 season where he wins the B10, the Rose Bowl, the Peach Bowl, and the National Championship at the worst FBS program in history and now it’s “do it again and we’ll talk”

I mean he didn’t beat a 6-7 Oklahoma team but come on

Well he cheated his way to a NC so he would fit in the SEC. Because the only reason teams like Bama, UGA and LSU dominate and win titles is by cheating right?
