Positively balmy this morning at 47 degrees, cloudy and drizzling. My post breakfast puff on the screened porch is an AVO synchro caribe. Took the band off of this one before lighting it.

I like La Aurora. When I lived in Santo Domingo I used to get them very cheap like basically $4 a stick when you converted the money back then.

But the owners of La Aurora is the Leon family. Very, very wealthy and well known prestigious family in Dominican republic. The Leon family owns not only La Aurora cigars and the tobacco fields and cigar factory but also they owned Presidente beer which is their national beer but they also own a Rum brand and one time they owned Marlboro cigarettes in Dominican too and they also own banks throughout the country and I think they owned or own the newspaper too. That family has been around like 120 years or more in the cigar business.

I like a lot of JC Newman sticks too plus they are local here in Tampa so got to support the local guys. Arturo Fuente is a homeboy too born and raised in Tampa and offices here but was just wondering what has happen lately to quality and his prices skyrocketing.

Have you tried Adventura ? They are great too. I’ve been lately trying different new cigars.

Those are good cigars. The preferidos vitolas are crazy priced but the toro versions like you have there of the platinum can be gotten cheaper and are very delicious - can be a bit strong on an empty stomach IIRC

Cant go wrong with a zino - always nice when you can get a 5 pack of these for $4 a stick, essentially a davidoff on the cheap. Always perfect construction and rich nuanced flavors, while not being over powering

I know it’s not a short answer but I want to bite the bullet and try my first cigar. Open to suggestions. Would prefer creamy, toasted marshmallow vs leather, pepper. Will hit up the B&M and ask there too but why not ask my VN brothers.

Romeo Y Julieta, Reserva Real will be a grassy medium bodied stick. Great first cigar.

Alternately, Macanudo Cafe or Montecristo White.

My two faves are the Ashton ESG and the Blackened M81.
