Cigar /Pipe Smoking thread

Checking in to see how everyone is doing.? Some nice looking smokes being toasted. I've checked in a few times but didn't have anything to say. It was a heartbreaking season this last year. I'm hoping next year is better. Maybe we can get a few more players in the portal that can help with this new defense.

Everybody keep warm thru this cold spell.
Thanks for checking in, good to see you.

Heading to Jamaica in a few months. How are the cigars down there?

Should I bring my own or enjoy the local stuff. And if they are good any recommendations on which to bring back stateside?

I might be wrong, but I wouldn’t think that taking your own would be worth the hassle with TSA, customs, etc.

It’s worth it. They don’t care going into Jamaica. Prices there are European level and selection is sparse. I think a hurricane a few years ago savaged their industry. Cubans are available at two LCDH’s on the island and there’s a place called Half Moon Resort that also offers legit habanas. But an Oliva V there is like a Byron here. Fill up a Boveda bag or a Systema of your own sticks and enjoy the warmth.

While I am subjecting myself to this frigid weather to enjoy a good cigar, it got me thinking of the cigars that I tried for the first time in 2025. My “find” for 2025 was the Cuba Aliados, purportedly a collaboration between EPC and Oliva. I bought a box of robustos for ~$3/stick and enjoyed them enough to buy another box. Best sale prices have gone up 25% since then. Have any of you tried them? If so, what say you?

If not, I encourage you to try them before prices go up further.

Thanks to a coupon code and other discounts, I was able to buy 20 AB Project 40s for $59 and change all in. Here, they’re being integrated into my robusto humiTUB, with a few cigars in a Pledge box that I use for easy access (don’t want to be opening a humiTUB every day).

Those project 40 are solid sticks and great price too. I buy them from time to time

Not sure what has happened to Arturo Fuentes sticks over the last year or so but the price keep rising and the quality is becoming less and less harder to smoke either dried out or rolled too tight. I have bought several from different B&M shops and same issue. Everyone I have spoken to has had the same issue or complaining about the prices now. You used could buy any stick less then $10 and Don Carlos was only $12-$13 now every stick by AF seems to be over $12 and Don Carlos for around $18 and rare Pink around $28-$30 and Opus X between $28-$75. Crazy

For that price, I rather have Davidoff or Plasencia or Adventura etc...

I’ve smoked my share of Fuente sticks, some have been better than others. I’ve never smoked a Davidoff and only a couple Plasencias, but if I’m going to pay $18-$20 or more for a cigar, I’m going with a Padron. Haven’t had a bad one yet.

Padron are solid. People love them but im a Plasencia guy. The Alma De Campo is one of my favorites and the original too and Alma Fuerte is good too. The new Blue label one isn’t worth the price $28 -$30 to me from Plasencia. Davidoff is another one of my favorites either the regular Winston Churchill or Grand Cru and Late Hour is great too.

I like a lot of JC Newman sticks too plus they are local here in Tampa so got to support the local guys. Arturo Fuente is a homeboy too born and raised in Tampa and offices here but was just wondering what has happen lately to quality and his prices skyrocketing.

Have you tried Adventura ? They are great too. I’ve been lately trying different new cigars.
