Cigar /Pipe Smoking thread

The Padilla series 1968 commemorates the poet, Heberto Padilla being imprisoned for criticizing Castro’s regime. This morning’s smoke is a 1968 Golden Bear robusto. Natural shade grown wrapper, Honduran filler grown from Cuban seed. [These arrived in perfect condition.] First impression, bready, nutty, a hint of honey and pepper, medium body.

The flavors as described seem perfect for an ode to a poet.

A two cigar day. This afternoon, I’m enjoying an AVO Synchro Caribe, a mixture of Dominican and Nicaraguan filler, Ecuadorian binder, and Dominican wrapper. First impression, cacao, a mixture of spices, a little fruity. Medium-full body, a good accompaniment to Tennessee sipping whiskey on the rocks.

Olivas are mainstays. Really want to try a Late Hour…or any Davidoff. Unless Camacho products count.

Camachos are good - but they are definitely not Davidoffs. I will say the sting are good Connecticuts. The one I was most dissapointed in was the triple maduro. It was good but not great really. It was much lighter flavored than the stuff I normally smoke. Olivas Vs are muuuuch better IMO.

I agree on the triple maduro. Very disappointing. I think I have 7 left from a 10 pack I got last fall. Very tight draw and not worth the trouble.
I do like the orange banded Camacho, pretty mild, a good golf smoke.
Never had a Davidoff.

Love the double robusto…best of both worlds

I don’t smoke many Perdomos, although I did just pick up a barrel aged maduro fiver on a CP scorcher. This particular cigar was given to me around Christmastime by a co worker.
It’s a 10th anniversary champagne Connecticut seed wrapper.
Sweet and fruity on the cold draw.
Great construction, holds a solid ash and burns evenly. It has an easy draw but not a ton of smoke.

Nutty through the first third and a tad peppery on retrohale.
Middle third still nutty and maybe add some cream. Pepper increases both on draw and retohale. Nice amount of smoke now as well. Building into what could be a really nice finish.
Into final third, much more smoke, way more pepper, stings the tongue just a little. I’d say the profile has remained constantly nutty throughout. There is the hint of the cold draw fruitiness as I’m nearing the very end.
