Cigar /Pipe Smoking thread

Sitting in the pool this afternoon, enjoying the family, a bit of McCallans 12yo and a delightful Montecristo 1935 Anniversary - coco, mild pepper, dark chocolate, dark fruit sweetness (but not too much), there is a reason it was #2 cigar of the year a few years ago when I got it.

Though it’s 91 degrees, the sun has moved to the western side of my home, and the screened porch is on the eastern side. With the puffy clouds providing intermittent shade and the fan running, I’m enjoying this fine cigar with an iced glass of fizzy water.

This morning’s post breakfast puff is a Puro Ambar. Dominican, a medium bodied smoke that’s found a market with women who indulge. Thought I’d try it, looking for another summertime smoke. First impressions, woody, nutty, muted spice.

Coda: After smoking two of these, I will say that they start out mild and progress to medium by the second third. OK for the humid heat accompanied by fizzy water or a clear spirits cocktail on the rocks.

Reprise: Though these have been OK, I don’t think that I’ll purchase them again. There’s been evidence of uneven construction and a bitter flavor component prominent in the final third of the last two that I’ve smoked.

I ordered the Black Swans and a 20-cigar mystery flight. The mystery turned out OK.

Enjoyed the Black Swan I got out of a sampler. Big shock! Love all Olivas like my yungins.

Pop up thunderheads cruising through, bringing a breeze and a few fat raindrops. Having a John Prine cocktail with a Griffin robusto.

Monday morning post breakfast smoke is a Padilla Reserva robusto. The labels on these are large, and I want to remove them before lighting. The factory is careful in the application of cigar glue, and the wrappers have not been damaged.

Reprise: This cigar is a good medium bodied smoke. I ordered some more, along with a couple other Padilla offerings.
