Ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous. Lo and behold, let us all rightly kiss Mr. Smith's - the man who single-handedly ran the Jets defense in the AFC championship and recruited every star recruit in our 2011 class - ring. Lo and behold, Don Corneloni is a UT grad! This press conference reeked of self-promotion, self-aggrandizement, and bitterness. AND, he ends it by talking about Lane bloody Kiffin?! Are you kidding me?!

Yes judging by the press conference, you can tell what a stable, intellectual resource he was for our team.

The same reason he asked for this press conference is the reason he is out of a job, his ego. He couldn't play well with others bc he was too "big" for the program. Dooley gave the guy a chance and it almost blew up in his face.

Excuse me for being emotional, but I remember people on this board/forum coming close to saying that the program had fallen apart when Chuck Smith resigned/was moved on. Future recruiting efforts will be handcuffed, 2011 recruits might start leaving, etc. are what I recall reading. And this press conference, I have one question for those people: is this the guy whose departure you wept over? This guy? The "VFL" who approvingly talks about Lane Kiffin?

And by the way, the DL's performance was not stellar last season. From my memory it did improve a bit over the last few games (as our schedule softened). But to say that he should still be the DL coach because of last year's performance is ridiculous.

I watched the whole thing. I don't have a problem with it. The guy is passionate about UT, obviously upset that he's no longer there and wants everyone to know it wasn't his decision to leave.

Too bad the situation worked out like it did - but he's still a VFL!

Chuck Smith is a strange man... Here is what I learned from his presser.
1. He landed every recruit this season
2. He doesn't know how to structure sentences.
3. Said players weren't good but they were his.
4. He is a VFL. If you aren't sure ask him.

After hearing him on 3HL I bet he punched Wilcox and would punch Wilcoxs mother given the chance.

Classy was the best we can hope from this. I think we would all like Smith to be on the staff in some capacity... too bad it did not work out...

Can someone explain to me what this presser was all about? Was it to clear up why he got fire or what because that could've taken 2 minutes.

Watching this I have no idea what the purpose of this was...
