Smith is in... Dooley needs to hire DC first and the DC needs to agree to hiring Smith.

They are really wasting precious time not getting him on board now and taking advantage of his Jets experience now and getting his feet wet with recruiting.

Is Smith holding out for more money? UT needs to get him on the road quick for recruiting the D-line prospects, before Bama, UF and UGA get them all.

Just listening to Cowherd and he had a guy on talking about the 4 NY Jet coaches getting released. He said Chuck Smith was different because he was just a consultant and he was taking a job as a DL coach at the University of Tennessee. Hope it's true.

Chuck Smith(formerly defensive line coach for the NY Jets) will be the next D line coach for UT.

The dopes (Chernoff & Oliver) on 680 the fan here in Atlanta are saying it's done.... Smith used to do talk radio here so they're "efforting" (their word, not mine...) to get him on the show....

If that's actually the case, then I'd say the DC has already been identified and approved this hire, the DC has just not been announced yet.

I just heard on 680 the fan in Georgia that Chuck Smith has been hired as Defensive Line coach for Tennessee. Anybody else here that?

I want to see his name on utsports.com before I believe any more of this. He is he isn't he was now he's not bs bs bs. Why don't radio people get some credible sources. This is crap.

I say there is a 80% chance he is going to be on the staff. Too many sources saying it for it not to be true. Now will the real DC please stand up.

I was with you in this thinking but am wondering if that is the case then why hasn't the DC been announced..

I can't think of a reason not to announce this, so I don't think the DC is decided yet.

I heard on Atlanta sports talk radio that Chuck Smith had been hired to coach Defensive Line at Tennessee. I get home and there is nothing on the internet about it. They had Dan Reaves on the show and he was talking about what a great hire it was for Dooley. What is going on with all of this erroneous reporting? They were talking about it like it was fact. Oh well. You heard it here first.

Actually, you heard it a few hours ago from me! You gotta remember.... It's Buck & Kincaide. I heard the same thing on Chuck & Chernoff and nothing else was said..... I think they must know something though as Chuck Smith used to do a radio show with Chernoff and they still keep in touch..... Normally I wouldn't put a lot of stock in what they say but since they have a personal relationship I am leaning towards giving Chernoff the benefit of a doubt here.... We'll know soon enough.
