Chubb update

Nick has received wide spread support from many outside the UGA program and deservedly so. Like Marcus Lattimore, he is a great FB player, but more importantly an even better person, from all accounts. Prayers for a speedy and 100% recovery, go out not only to the greatest players, but to ALL players who get injured playing the game they love, and the game we love to watch.

A lot of other posters said it's serious

I have no clue myself on the injury, but Butch indicated Shy was expected back for Bama. He said the bye week was coming at a good time. He did leave you with a little question on it though, because he did follow that sentence saying we would know more on Monday.

Horrible about the injury. Here's hoping Chubb has a full recovery and plays many games in the future in Georgia and NFL jerseys. :hi:

Add the newly refound ALL. There is new research that involves this band of tissue that spans the tibia and femur. It's amazing how far sports medicine has come. Good luck Chubb.

I don't know that you can have the new ALL tear without also having an ACL tear.

I really hate that for Chubb. Hate to see great players (or anyone for that matter) get injured like that. Seems like GA is snake bitten with there star RB's.

Especially when they play UT

Good Luck Chubb

I was referring to the addition of the ALL to the knee ligament family. I was not inferring that Chubb had sustained that particular injury.

Prayers to him. He is going to need it. He will make a great pro.

It'll suck for the team that picks him. I think Gurley was a bad pick and Chubbs is setting himself up to be one too. Don't get me wrong he's an excellent RB, but nagging injuries can really hamper your pro career.

I see.

Most likely, if ACL intact, then it was posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) and posterolateral corner (PLC). Confusing. Posterolateral corner is combination of lateral collateral ligament (LCL) and the popliteus tendon.

Reconstruction is usually within a week or two and takes every bit as long to recover from as an ACL.

I think you and I are either peers or close to it. I consult on these injuries. I've been in the OR on a bunch of these. On a PLC we normally weave the graft through the fibular head and maintain fixation with a tenodesis screw.

Would it be out of line to post a screen shot from the replay of the Chubb injury? Let me be clear. What happened to him was a devastating loss to college football. Guys like that are not easily found nor replaced and I hate that it happened. I just don't know if people really understand how bad it was and I have a pic that shows it. Mods, this one is up to you.

I tore my acl and lcl in my left knee at the same time and it was a super duper tough surgery to get over. Probably about a year and a half before I trusted it fully. Prayers going out to Chubb

There are only 4 ligaments in the knee, LCL, MCL, PCL and ACL. I would be surprised if he tore his MCL as that usually occurs when the knee is bent sideways, which would mean he tore PCL, LCL and ACL. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Thanks for the input. Football and professional medical science. Best site ever...
