I think Chris Weinke needs to be shown the door. Chaney has done a fine job but Chris Weinke hasn't.Come on guys, we have a QB Heisman Trophy winner who's in the QBs ear after every series and everybody tries to put the blame on Cheney? Just what value does Weinke have as a QB Coach and a Recruiter? I know he has ties to IMG, but is he earning his keep?
Let’s just call it like it is, we don’t have a real major college QB on the team. I don’t understand why we keep putting the same guy out there and seeing the same result. I’d sure try something different, what we are doing isn’t getting results. It’s hard to say. I’m not sure JG was ever going to be a stellar QB. He was overhyped as a recruit and his overcautious gameplay last year gave him some stats that made fans without context overhype him as a college player.
That being said, I don’t think losing Weinke is a big loss, but I’m also not sure that he should be fired.

I was there yes. I am still in Jacksonville. He made some awful throws but he also made some really effing good ones and some that the WRs didn't execute on. He's inconsistent. He has still progressed from the beginning of the season. There's only so much weinke can do with a headcase (which seeing how well JG tends to do after being pulled for a series and being told to calm down, it's fairly obvious he's a headcase.Did you watch the game last night? His QBR was 15.5.
Considering where JG was at the beginning of the year and where he is now, yes. If you don't think JG hasn't developed you're blind.
Yeah, I'm not blaming Weinke. I'm not in the QB room, or on the practice field, so I can't judge. I just don't think you can say JG has developed based on his performance the last two games. I appreciate his heart and effort, I just don't think there is a better-than-average QB on our roster right now. That makes is hard to assess Weinke. I am looking forward to seeing what Harrison Bailey brings to the team.I was there yes. I am still in Jacksonville. I agree. He was late, had little touch on the ball, had several passes batted down, and had zero mobility. Again, I'm not bashing. He does make some good throws. That's what makes it so frustrating. I appreciate his effort, but yes, we are 3 years in and JG is still who he is.I disagree. He looks the same to me unless he comes off the bench. Something is mentally wrong with him being the guy and him being brought down a notch. Hasslebeck and virtually every former QB that announces our games say the same thing every time. He is late, late, late on every throw. I know that is hard to be coached out of him, but we are 3 years in and it is the same thing every game.

I agree in that something mentally is getting in his way when he is the man. Maybe it's the "weight of responsibility" being the starting QB. When he comes in after another QB has been playing his want to play overcomes any pressure he feels playing at the QB position. As a high school track and field coach I can say every year I have at least one athlete with a weird quirk I have to figure out. Mentally they can not perform in the normal situations and once we figure out how to get them around that block it creates an environment they can succeed in. To me it always seemed like JG did better off the bench.I disagree. He looks the same to me unless he comes off the bench. Tennessee maybe should have done from the start what Bobby Bowden did from 1977-1979 and have a platoon system at quarterback with two quarterbacks.I agree in that something mentally is getting in his way when he is the man. I must be blind. JG is not a dynamic play maker. It is sad to think the coaches think he is the best we got. I honestly believe if Mauer had stayed healthy all season, he'd of been our starting Qb tonight and into next seasonConsidering where JG was at the beginning of the year and where he is now, yes. He doesn't have to be a dynamic play maker to see that he's in a better spot now than he was against GA st. The kid is just a headcase.I must be blind. JG is not a dynamic play maker. Both need a better QB to work with.Come on guys, we have a QB Heisman Trophy winner who's in the QBs ear after every series and everybody tries to put the blame on Cheney? Just what value does Weinke have as a QB Coach and a Recruiter? I know he has ties to IMG, but is he earning his keep?
Maurer was not ready. He should have red-shirted but JG's poor play forced the coaches to play him. JG's experience and understanding of the system... plus a whole year of the whole coaching staff focused on trying to "fix" him... made him the "best" choice.I must be blind.
