Chris Weinke...Is he legit or a poser?

I believe my value loving and morally supporting the team has as much measurable value to UT football as Chris Weinke's onfield results.
and I have never blown a college football game.

You know, weinke just sucks and has done nothing. I am a teacher and could not keep my job with his results after 2.5 seasons.

I think Weinke was a good "name" hire but his substance is lacking, just no way you trot out players who have no clue whats goin on, ridiculous.

Between Goff, JG, Shrout, Maurer and Bailey, what improvement has he shown? Stats don't lie.. His resume looks good, but he can't coach..

There's a reason Weinke isn't an offensive coordinator or head coach in waiting or head coach somewhere by now, a complete lack of QB development could explain it

He was overly promoted. He should still be in high school ball. If his name wasn't Weinke, he wouldn't be here.

Until further notice, every coach and player is a poser.

Let them prove they're legit. And I don't just mean against Vandy or Arkansas.

So far, I'm willing to grant legitimacy to Palmer, To'o To'o, and maybe about half the defense. Even VFL Trey Smith doesn't yet get the nod--he's a senior leader, and it's on him to whip that OL into shape. He can earn it along with the rest of the (for now) posers.

As for the coaching staff, for now they're all double-posers. They need to prove twice as much as the lads.

This guy was a lights out QB in college (even though old AF). No way he isn't able to pass on knowledge to JG. The issue lies in the whole knowledge transfer process...aka its JG and Pruitts fault.

I havent saw any development in Guarantano, Shrout wasnt ready, apparently neither is Maurer, Bailey is green. Whats Weinke's job if not to have our Quarterbacks ready to play? Waste of money imo...
He is definitely a poser!!!! Great quarterback, but a lousy coach! Tee Martin is in the same boat! He is a lousy coach as well!!

why Winky was up in the box Saturday shows he isnt a QB coach -- should have been on the sidelines with the QB group doing something like 'coaching'

Between Weinke, Martin and Chaney Tennessee is spending mega bucks, and for what? Why do you need a qb coach, a passing game coordinator, and an offensive coordinator? Maybe that is part of the issue, information overload with no consistent message.
Well under Jones we didn't even have a qb coach. I believe you need a qb coach unless you have someone like Cutcliffe as your OC and even then I think it's good to have a qb coach. But he needs to be one that actually is a good qb coach. We need to get serious about our qb development, if the ones on staff can't do it get them out. GBO!

Can anyone name a QB Weinke has actually improved over his career?

He helped a young Cam Newton, a young Sam Bradford, and many others. Many college QB’s have worked with Weinke leading up to their combine. He worked at IGM, on Pro staffs and other college staffs.

At one point he was considered as one of the top few QB coaches in the game.

He hasn’t shown it while here....that’s for sure. However I seriously think something is up.....Tennessee has some really good coaches that seem to “not be what they were or should be”....... or enough freedom, QB’s simply not good enough, or something?

I’m not sure.

That’s true. Scrutiny is a good way of putting it. I’m willing to let them see out the season with Bailey before I demand heads. If they don’t put Bailey in I’m going to somehow become even more sad. I still think Pruitt is worth persisting with. His defense and recruiting has been solid. I think we are a QB away from relevance
Recruitment without development means nothing. Supposedly, Pruitt is a great recruiter, but look at the record.

seems like the new trend is to fill the QB coach from NFL ranks...............QB coach / pass game coordinator could become a well paid job in CFB
