I work at a sports store in Memphis that does UT and Memphis collegiate stuff and Chris Walker came in with his mom. Just a little comment he made that I thought was interesting.

He said that BJ Coleman was the best qb at TN and that the whole team knew it.

Ok, not that he is a critique of qb's but I thought it was interesting the guy the team (and Cutcliffe) thought was best, played the least...sad.:mega_shok:

This might answer alot of the "qb eliminating" kiffin has been doing. I mean, surely with some actual coaching Coleman and Stephens can only get better...Crompton, has had his million and one shots and a whole spring of prep. I'm sure we go after a big qb next recruiting period, but I have faith that Kiffin and the staff can work with the kids we have and get some turn around out of them.

The class that Coleman came in with loves the guy.

I'm just trying to think optimistically but wouldn't that equal some good chemistry? The game he played he seemed to yell and be passionate. It'd be nice to have a solid leader, maybe he could be THE ONE, with some work.:good!:

I live right down the street from there. I may come in and say hi and get a huge discount on merchandise... :)

Ha, you better believe with my discount I'm more in debt to the owner than I actually make. You can never have too much orange!

It's funny, JP Prince's mom came in to by something for her and her husband to wear to a game last year. ESPN interviewed them that weekend and they had on what I had helped her pick out. Gotta love that job.

I've never heard one player say a bad word about Coleman.

I agree with you about the chemistry. The guys in his class would run threw a wall for him

I honestly find that hard to believe. There might be some bias in Walker's eyes (I have no idea why), but I strongly disagree. I've been BJ play alot (mostly in high school I admit and he might have grown as a player), but everything I've seen indicates to me that he would fit in better at a place like UTC. His arm strength is NOT Big time SEC football material.

he only threw 8 passes

Well with the number of passes they allowed Crompton to throw after he proved that he was incapable of completing even the easiest of passes, there must have been a reason they didn't allow Coleman to throw more than 8 times the whole season.

Phil had some kind of man crush on Crompton.

It was pretty well known that Crompton was PF boy and he was bound and determined to play him. Cut recruited Coleman because it was rumor that he didn't have faith in Cromptons ability to lead the offense.

It sure seemed odd that nick never got another chance yet crompton did time after time after time.

Yes i realize this. My disdain for Fulmer and Crompton run as deep as anyone else's. BUT just because Fulmer continued to play him doesn't mean he had to let him keep throwing. He could've attempted to let the run game and defense do most of the work (as it so happens ended up serving us well against Vandy and KY). So my argument would be that Fulmer's love of Crompton should've led to Crompton throwing the ball less. The Wyoming game was in the bag if Crompton hadn't gotten to throw the last 9 or 10 plays of the game and instead Creer had continued to run for 10 + yards on every carry...Therefore Fulmer ultimately made Crompton look even worse.

In the game Coleman got to play early....I disagree that he was staring down his receivers....he made some good reads, moved around in the pocket and yes.....he showed some signs of having pocket presents,

I do agree, the pick six he did give that one away with his eyes first and arm second.

I think Kiffin has Coleman picked as his go to guy in 2009 and then gets a top gun in the next class.

Yes that was my biggest issue. As far as I'm concerned, Stephens was the most impressive QB on the field for us this past season. I'm not saying I happy with him, but he was without a doubt the best. Just more proof that Fulmer didn't give a crap if we won or lost.

Mark my words and save them for later. Coleman will NEVER be a solid SEC QB. Despite Crompton's terrible performance this year, in Kiffin's mind he is still the better option. There is something that got Crompton ranked 2nd QB in his recruiting class, and he has buttloads more potential than Coleman. While I think Stephens is ultimately the best option, I believe Kiffin will give Crompton a shot in his offense. But I promise you that Coleman will not be our starter next year.

the most important thing a QB needs is pocket presents.
