His co-OC/WR coach and S&C coach have ties to the southeast. You don't start dictating staff on a Gruden, Petersen, Patterson level hire. You might offer suggestions, but no more. You trust these guys are the best and you trust them to bring in the guys they think will help them win. Do not need anymore chemistry issues among staff.

Petersen is a winner, people will line up to play for a winner.

I wouldn't even offer suggestions. Petersen gets who he wants.

Not 100% sold on Petersen, considering he is West Coast through and through and grew up going to UW games. But considering the fact that I'm worried that we are about to see Greg Schiano or Mike Bobo in a dark suit with an orange tie standing with Currie at the podium I'll take him and be happy.

Dont know if I agree about Petersen's staff being good in the SEC. I honestly believe if Petersen came here, he needs guys with SEC experience. Like Steele at DC.

If Schiano is the next HC, then it will make the fan's reaction to the Kiffin departure look tame. I just can't imagine after Currie's comments about wanting someone with integrity and an "expensive, explosive" hire that Schiano (or someone like Bobo) are the choice.

With some of the scary names I'm hearing and reading I would be good with bringing Jim Bob Cooter and Tee Martin back to the Hill! At least these guys have been successful at their respective coaching positions and they both BLEED ORANGE! It's time to bring back some pride and caliber football to Knoxville. Go Vols!!! However, I do like Petersen, though I don't know how realistic it is.

Definitely a big time hire if they could get him here. I like Gruden, Peterson, Harbaugh, and Patterson in that order. If rolling the dice, I like Frost. Not much out there that is an exciting hire.

I'd add Matt Campbell to that list also. He and frost are the two hottest names this yr and Campbell has already won more games vs Top 5 and SEC West teams than Tennessee has in the last 10 yrs.

You can make the buyout work due to his salary only being $2mil.

Tennessee would have to pay the 9 mil buyout within 45 days.........they are not going to do that.

Why assume that Iowa State won’t increase his pay? He’s not leaving without a substantial raise, plus Iowa State getting over $9 million in 45 days. I’m guessing it’ll take close to $6 million/year to get him.
