According to 247, Tennessee has at least reached out to him. They don't know how serious it is past that point but at least they're making an effort.

It would be stupid not to at least guage interest of great coaches no matter how unlikely. You might catch them at an emotional moment. Not that you want to bring someone in on a instantaneous decision but possibly you catch them when he sees no Pac12 team has shot at playoff and he listens to your sales pitch.

10 million would be hard to say no to. We could probably get whomever we wanted with the right price.

More realistic than Gruden. I'd say according to the rumblings there is a chance. Plus he seems pretty unhappy right now. He wins and ESPN still shows UW no respect.

I don't think we really know who is "realistic" atp. Currie has done a good job keeping things close.

Then how do you know that one is more realistic than the other?

Petersen would be the ultimate homerun hire but I really do not see him leaving Washington...I mean you can offer him the house and see what happens say around 7-8 million but other than that I don't see it happening...He would be the SEC's worse nightmare

I only watched one game coached by Petersen. The Boise St vs Ok bowl game. Is that enough sample size to want this guy as our coach, which I really do?

$10 million and an all orange Shields-Watkins guarantee.

Blue is one thing, but a UT orange field.....my head hurts just thinking about it.

As for 10 mil, I'd say no way in hades is any coach worth that, but after the last decade of what's been called football, I'm waivering to the point of saying go for it. I'd rather pay him than Gruden that's for sure.

Not. A. Realistic. Option.

The fact people think he would leave his setup for us on other side of the country is truly amazing.

the landscape really changes in the hills of east Tennessee when your income puts you in the top of the top one percent!

Looking at it through those eyes its different

This would be a hire that the entire fan base would be happy about. In my opinion he would be a much safer hire than Gruden. I'm not optimistic it will happen but it'd be an awesome pick up. His former Boise State players are on a lot of NFL rosters.

Our university really believes that "if you build it [they] will come". Of course, that's total BS.
Yeah... it I will be like Thompson Bowling Arena when Wade Houston and Buzz Peterson was there. I doubt they make bad hire with Neyland renovations because football is the money maker.

There are several coaches that I like but I am holding out reservation until one is announced. If it is a disappointment to us, I will prop my hope on the fact that even Gene Chizik won a National Championship.

He's tired of mediocrity as much as we are. All those good teams that get no respect out west. He wants to win his 1st NC and build a lasting legacy in Tennessee. Let's get him on board.
