Chris Petersen thread (merged)

I have been drinking the Chris Petersen Kool-Aid since the 06 Fiesta Bowl...

Dude's about as legit as they come anymore. IMO I'd put him second behind Saban on my big board, and honestly, if Pete were at a powerhouse like Alabama, I'm not sure he wouldn't be just as successful as ole Darth himself.

He develops players like no other coach...his Boise teams put a lot of 2*/3* kids into the NFL and a lot of them are still playing.

This would be my 1b to gruden for sure.

My only concern is his recruiting ability in the south. If he can get some good sec assistants then watch out.

If you have a chance to bring Petersen to Knoxville you absolutely have to try. He would check all the boxes

But could he realistically get the big wins needed to win the SEC? Tennessee's schedule isn't Boise State or Washington.

IF he is that good of a coach.. Than schedule won't matter.. but he hasn't had that yet either...

I don't really want a guy who has to prove himself because he's never competed at this level, but it may be all we have.

He would have excellent southern recruiters on staff and his pipeline in Cali would make Tennessee a perennial power. Fulmer got west coast guys, Petersen could do even better there.

I heard on the radio he may have some interest and may have been contacted. If so he definitely moves to number 1 on the coaching list. Lets hope he is tired of the West Coast and lack of publicity.

Not. A. Realistic. Option.

The fact people think he would leave his setup for us on other side of the country is truly amazing.

I can agree with that. A mix of georgia, florida, california, and Tennessee talent would be awesome

According to 247, Tennessee has at least reached out to him. They don't know how serious it is past that point but at least they're making an effort.

Doubled salary, lower cost of living, better stadium, facilities, resources, EXPOSURE, conference, tradition, I could go on and on.

I would jump for joy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! however; I am inclined to think he may use this as leverage for a raise at Washington.

More realistic than Gruden. I'd say according to the rumblings there is a chance. Plus he seems pretty unhappy right now. He wins and ESPN still shows UW no respect.

I don't think we really know who is "realistic" atp. Currie has done a good job keeping things close.

Of course we should reach just to make sure he is a no. But at the end of the day, if we aren’t paying 10 million or more, he ain’t coming. UW will match any salary up to that 10 million number.
