His offense is utilizing Denard Robinson's legs. It may be pro style, but that doesn't mean he can't use the players. He still uses a lot of qb reads and shotgun formations

All of that brilliance is just from today. I couldn't tolerate reading any more of your inane drivel. And all of that was pointless name-calling of fellow UT fans that happen to offer an opinion that Dooley might not be the answer to the program's woes.

When Fulmer was asked to leave in 2008, pre-Kiffin, pre-Dooley, I changed my avatar to Chris Petersen. I felt then, and still feel, that he would be the best coach for UT. He has repeatedly taken less-talented teams and led them to double-digit season win totals and numerous victories over BCS heavyweights. That's a hallmark of good coaching.

I think Dooley is fine. I don't think UT is deserving of just "fine".

BCS heavyweights???? They have only beaten one BCS heavyweight and that was against Oklahoma in a meaningless bowl to them. Oregon wasn't considered a powerhouse until last year. Va Tech, a down Georgia, and Oregon State arent bcs heavyweights. When they beat LSU, Alabama, or any team on that level then you can say they beat a bcs heavyweight

I think we should fire our coach, and then when the next coach fails due to an even bigger mess of a program, we should fire him too. Then get another coach, and if that third coach can't fix the black hole of turmoil created, fire him as well. Get a fourth coach and see what he can do, and by G-d if he can't do it give him the boot. Then maybe we won't be able to afford a coach anymore due to the fact that we'll still be paying all the coaches we fired. At the end of the day we'll still be able to say we tried, and that's what's important.

On a serious note, take a look at Boise State's marquee victories. The big games they win are either at the very beginning of the season, or in a bowl game. They are great at catching good teams off guard when they are still shaking the summer rust off. In both instances they have multiple weeks to prepare for one specific team. I'd bet good money that if they played Georgia in the middle of the season the outcome would be very different.

It would definitely be a better game, after the South Carolina game, Georgia has really stepped up and found their identity. I still think they are a middle of the road team though.

We have no idea how he can recruit or if he can rebuild a team. He has never had to rebuild. Btw, what about Hawkins and dirk koetter? They both were unsuccessful once they left Boise State. Not saying Petersen wouldn't be different, but we have no idea. SEC is a totally different league.

It would be a better game. Give Georgia some SEC seasoning, and Boise dealing with a week of preparation as opposed to the whole summer. I'd say Georgia would win, but I'd still consider Georgia a middle of the road team. It would just say more about Boise than anything. However, it could just be that I'm a huge Boise State critic. Their hype probably won't ever really go away unless they play LSU or Alabama in the national championship, or go undefeated in any of the major conferences(Acc, Big 10, Big 12, Pac 12, Sec)

I rarely post on here but feel inclined to respond. I'm not sure what is wrong with people on here. The op and anyone that shares this opinion are incredibly delusional or just simply stupid. What do you honestly expect the outcome of firing CDD to be? its been said As often as these dumb threads have been created. It WILL kill this program. UT WILL loose most of this class. You WILL see a large number of current players transfer out. I believe it will be such a bad outcome IF tn can overcome another coaching change it will be many many years from now. If you believe just hire the best it ain't happening. You could offer saban 10 million and he wouldn't take over this sinking ship. I really wish people could learn how to use their brain. It's way past time the so called fans get over this thought.

They don't care-they just want some blood to make themselves feel better. And someone to blame.

By the way-the OP claims to be a Boston fan, and does not see injuries as an excuse. So losing Kendrick Perkins in game 6 is not an excuse for losing game 7 to the Lakers-and played no part in it, right? Or losing Tom Brady played no part in the Pats not making the playoffs, right?

Derek Dooley is the coach. He is also just a fraction of what makes the Tennessee Volunteers. This is a football team, not a competition to see who has the highest paid coach on the field. Everyone has to pull their weight for it to work. It's easy to have the best players and the best coaches. It's easy to be a fan of these teams. But what happens when you don't have the best record? You stick with it. Because at the end of the day, you did your best even when you struggled. You were tested over and over until you didn't think you could make it any longer. And maybe you didn't have the best record or play a bowl, but you did it anyways because you love your team AND your coach. I will respect any coach who can keep fighting in good and bad times. Not just some fancy 68-5 in 6 years coach who makes more in a year than I will probably see in a lifetime, just so you can sleep better at night knowing your team didn't have to put up with a struggle, build emotional strength, or develop patience. It can't be bought.

Dan Hawkins coached Boise everyone wanted him especially Colorado . they said they needed a winner to take them back to National Champs. Lot easirer to win when you play 1 real good team a year and a bunch of mediocre to bad. Peterson = Hawkins

Agreed. Georgia beat Vandy by just five points, and Florida's record was 4-3 before Georgia's win by just four. That is a victory for Georgia given the rivalry, but they still have their moments and again, Florida's record wasn't exactly stellar going in. Georgia got roughly 12 of their points from field goals during the vandy game. Playing teams like LSU and Alabama is a challenge that Georgia as not been given.

Agreed. I really thought Hawkins would be great at CU. I wanted him at UT at the time. But there is a big difference between getting a team ready to play 2 or 3 competitive games per year plus 9-10 scrimmages vs playing a BCS schedule.

Petersen has been smart enough to recognize this fact. I believe he will eventually leave BSU but it won't be for a "hard" job like UT is right now. It will be for an LSU, UGA, UF,... maybe even Miami or FSU.

If Boise is so great why don't they send tons of players to the NFL? Pro teams don't look at a conference as much as they look at the attributes of the player and it appears to me they view the Boise players as being system players. Yes I know they have sent a few players to the NFL but for a team to be so dominant in their conference you would think they would have more.
