(Pulls string in neck) Chris Petersen is not a candidate for this job, get over it people.

Best approval rating of any poll on volnation during this search, even more than Gruden.

I would double his wash salary and give him 10 mil for assistants and total control of the football program, and request that he at least interview some former Tennessee guys for those spots to help the program and those involved in it past present and future.

To be honest with only a 1.5 million buyout, there’s no reason he should NOT be the next HFC at UT.

Offer him 2nd highest paid coach behind Saban, and make him say no publicly. Still might be a bargain.

But it’s really sad that Currie’s buyout is over 3x more than Petersen. Jones was over 5x that.

That tells you all you need to know about the state of Tennessee football.

Sorry if I just caused anybody to drink themselves into a coma.

I don't see him coming to Tennessee but youre insane if you dont at least talk to him. 1.5 million to get him out of Washington IF he wants to come. That's a dirt cheap buyout for an elite coach (top five minimum coach). I would offer him as much as I could and see if he bites. I don't expect this to happen but you have to at least try.

Chris Petersen, in addition to being an excellent college FB coach, is very humble, and seems very level headed. I can totally see, how he would value the opportunity to work under a Hall Of Fame coach. This doesn't mean he would come automatically, but I would not be shocked, if he came like most.

Fulmer will gain points with the fan base if he at least tries to hire Petersen and it would most definitely be a win for the program if he accepted.

There is no downside for Fulmer even if Petersen didn't accept the job. So why not at least make an effort?

Agree

If Tennessee officials had an interview with Petersen and didn't offer him at least $10m per year for 5 years, then they do not take the football program seriously enough. Petersen is a top 3 coach in the nation and he is as close as there will ever be to a sure thing.

Does the University take football as seriously as Alabama, Auburn, Texas A&M or not? This will answer that question.
