Marlon Brown, Memphis -- Florida, Georgia, Ohio State, and Tennessee. The pick: Georgia.

Alshon Jeffrey, St. Matthews, S.C. -- South Carolina, Southern California and Tennessee. The pick: Southern California.

Patrick Patterson, Macon, Miss. -- Alabama, Ole Miss, Southern Miss and Tennessee. The pick: Ole Miss.

Je'Ron Stokes, Philadelphia -- Georgia, Illinois, Michigan and Tennessee. The pick: Michigan.

Orson Charles, Tampa, Fla. -- Florida, Florida State, Georgia and Tennessee. The pick: Georgia.

Zaccheus Mason, Nashville, Tenn. -- Memphis, Ole Miss and Tennessee. The pick: Ole Miss.

Aubrey Phillips, Olive Branch, Miss. -- Arkansas, Auburn, Florida State and Tennessee. The pick: Florida State.

In his blog he says that more defensive predictions are coming sometime this afternoon.

Aubrey Phillips to FL. State? I thought he gave his visit 8 out of 10 and was 90% sure about us? Where is all of this coming from? We don't have very many OLs in a class where we need them.

Stokes to Michigan makes me sad....:cray:

Switch Brown to UT and Phillips to Arkansas and I think he nailed it.

I have a good feeling about Jeffery also. Hate to lose Phillips but if we could pull Hall that would more than make up for it. I think Oku stays but Stokes goes to Illinois.

I just don't understand Marlon Brown to Georgia but if thats where the kid wants to go then so be it. Sometimes no matter what you do or how hard you work you just can't get what you want. There will be more stud receivers to sign and once we get a big time QB we will have a better chance at landing them. Can't blame Kiffin on this he has done everything he can to get this kid.

does anyone get the feeling that chris low listened to the jamie newberg interview and then blogged about it claiming those predictions as his own?

No. Those are a lot different than Newberg's and they are right on with what I'm thinking except I think we land Brown and keep Phillips.

My boyfriend is an Arkansas fan (I guess everyone can't be perfect:ermm:) and he insists that Phillips will end up at Arkansas as well. Apparently Aubrey's step dad is saying its down to Florida State and Arkansas. I guess we'll see on NSD!

thats unfortunate if its true. if i had to guess i'd say he stays a vol, though.

I agree with those as well. Montgomery is more of a mystery. It wouldn't surprise me if he picked LSU, UT, or UNC.

Is it just me, or does it seem like UT will end up with 16 signees according to all these predictions and Kiffin telling everybody to take a hike?

Word out of Olive Branch is that Phillips is a lock for FSU, MY daughter is on the NDA team so it's a really good source plus I talked to one of his teammates and he confirmed.:cray::

As I continue to read about and keep up with the University of Tennessee’s 2009 recruiting class I have seen a good deal of people posting about who they believe will likely end up signing on the “dotted line” for the Volunteers. I thought it would be fun to do the same. I do intend to compare my predictions with our actual signing class on February 4th. This is a very exciting time for me, as a Volunteer fan. Coach Lane Kiffin and Staff have been working diligently to make sure we have an acceptable recruiting class this year. I believe they have done a great job. I also believe it will pay off. Please keep in mind the class I have listed is from a conservative standpoint. Rumors have been surfacing about who is visiting on January 30th and who is not. I welcome any and all corrections and comments to this post. I will not comment on the selections I pick to sign with us, but will comment on the “big name” prospects I do not believe will sign. Thank you for reading this post and most importantly, “Go Vols”!

By Position:
Linebacker
1. Jerod Askew 4 star Chesapeake, VA
2. Nigel Mitchell-Thornton 3 star Stone Mountain, GA
3. DT. Shackelford 4 star Decatur, AL
4. Marlon Walls 4 star Chatham, VA
5. Greg King 3 star Memphis, TN

Defensive Back
1. Eric Gordon 4 star Nashville, TN
2. Mike Edwards 3 star Cleveland, OH
3. Damien Thigpen 4 star Manassas, VA
4. Nyshier Oliver 3 star Jersey City, NJ

Defensive End/Defensive Line
1. Jonathan Hollins 3 star Santa Clarita, CA
2. Arthur Jeffrey 3 star Sarasota, FL
3. Sam Montgomery 4 star Greenwood, SC
4. Rae Sykes 3-4 star Coffeyville, KS

Running Back
1. David Oku 4 star Midwest City, OK
2. Toney Williams 3 star Alpharetta, GA

Offensive Line
1. Aubrey Phillips 4 star Olive Branch, MS
2. JerQuari Schofield 4 star Aiken, SC
3. Kevin Revis 3 star Evensville, TN
4. Chris Freeman 3 star Trotwood, OH
5. Peter White 4 star D.C.

Wide Receiver
1. James Green 4 star Tallahassee, FL
2. Zach Rogers 3 star Nashville, TN
3. Alshon Jeffery 4 star St. Matthews, SC

Tight End
1. Zaccheus Mason 3 star Nashville, TN

That concludes what I believe will be an acceptable recruiting class. I think we will land between 12th- 15th in overall recruiting this year. One concern I do have is about our wide receiver situation. I do not believe we will sign Marlon Brown. I know this is not a popular answer but it is just my “gut” feeling. I believe he will sign with Georgia. The biggest reason why I believe this is because of our 2008 QB play. This is a great tool for competing colleges to use against us and trust me, they have and will continue to do so. I hope I am wrong because we need a tall, physical, deep threat receiver desperately. We do not have a deep threat wide receiver on our roster currently. The only player that had potential (E.J. Ward) was released by Lane Kiffin just last week. I know what most of you are thinking, and no; D. Moore does not count as a legitimate down field threat. Yes, he did catch a few deep balls in the 2008 season but he is not even close to the type of receiver we need such as an A.J. Green or Julio Jones. Other fans seem to down play the idea that if we are unable to sign Marlon Brown it will not be a big deal. I disagree. We absolutely need to sign Marlon Brown and Lane Kiffin knows this. It is not simply about getting “Marlon Brown”, per say. It is about getting Marlon Brown and also sending a message to other schools such as, Ohio State, Georgia, Florida, LSU, and Alabama that hey guess what?? Tennessee football recruiting is back! It is no longer acceptable to allow top-notch talent to just walk out of the state of Tennessee. We will no longer accept the left overs of the SEC like we have done the past 3-4 years (With the exception of the 2007 signing class). As far as Je’Ron Stokes goes, I believe that a Big 10 school will lock him up on signing day. This is another loss. Je’Ron Stokes is a good receiver that could add much needed depth to our receiver corp. I also want to believe that Patrick Patterson will give us a hard look but in the end I think Houston Nutt keeps him in the state of Mississippi. As for running backs, Kendrick Hardy and Eddie Lacy, I have heard that we actually have a better shot at getting Lacy than Hardy. At this point who knows? From what I am hearing down here in South Louisiana, Darren Myles Jr. is strongly considering LSU. I expect Monte Kiffin to make a strong push for him because he is going to need to for us to beat out LSU. Look for Kiffin to also make a strong push for Orson Charles as well. He has kind of flown under the radar in recent weeks but there must be some interest there if he is giving us his last official visit. This would most definitely be a dynamite sign for us on February 4th but look for him to sign with the Georgia Bulldogs. As most have stated previously, I anticipate some surprises as well as disappointments come national signing day. For all who have taken the time to read this I thank you and as always appropriate comments are welcome. Thanks. Go Tennessee Volunteers!

Word I am hearing (probably isn't worth anything) is that UGA is out for Brown. Hopefully this weekend goes a long way to him finding residence in Knox Vegas.
