8. Meyer will do everything in his power to kick Kiffin and the Vols' rear ends at the Swamp next Sept. 19.
9. Meyer was already going to try and kick Kiffin and the Vols' rear ends before Kiffin popped off.
for those of you that so little football iq as to think that yesterday will have any affect on next year's game.

remember, Florida is still better than us right now, and they were on Wed. too.

14. South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier hinted around a couple of months ago that Kiffin might be in violation of NCAA rules by calling recruits before taking his certification test. Well, Kiffin had already taken the test and shot back that he got 39 out of 40 right. We now know which question he missed.
:eek:lol:

17. Whether he meant to or not, Kiffin made sure the spotlight nationally Thursday was squarely on Tennessee -- a day after Alabama and Florida landed two of the top signing classes in the country.

B is completely irrelevant to you and me and our game. But for sportscasters, Kiffin is a gold mine. First, he gets into a public pissing match with one of professional football's most bizarre people. Then, he gets a new job and gets into a pissing match with the coach of the reigning national champions and the legaue front office.

ESPN, CNN, Sports Illustrated, all newspapers in Tennessee and Florida, and CBS all need to send Lane Kiffin a very expensive gift basket this December.
earlier than that...you think yesterday's transgressions won't be a hot topic the entire week leading up to the TN/FL game? that game will get the most hype it's gotten since the 01 game.

and then FL will kill us. Just like they would have if these comments werent' made.

the only difference is now there's something more intriguing about it than just "how bad will FL beat us?" now you got this coach at TN that everyone can't wait to hear what he says next.

Sounds familiar......

They will be promoting this game in mid-August.

can you imagine the feather int he cap Kiffin would have should he pull a monumental upset like beating FL this season?

that would be awesome.

not going to happen by my estimation, but it would be to me the coolest thing that's happened to this program since they won the NT.

back to reality...we lose, and he gets roasted after the game for the BB material etc....then it's forgotten about until next year.

There are three scenarios and two of them are good for Kiffin and the third isn't all that bad for Kiffin.

First, the most likely, Florida blows out UT. The sportscasters mock Kiffin, but then as is their habit in the same breath talks about a Tebow-less Florida visit to Neyland in 2010 and what will happen in that game.

Second, UT loses a close one. Kiffin is given credit for standing up to the big dog. Again, talk turns to Tebow-less Florida in 2010.

Third, UT pulls the upset. That would be huge for Kiffin and UT. There would be ticker tape parades for the man and he'd guarantee himself another six years of good will at the university.

The only way this really hurts is if Florida continues its win streak for another few years and if UT remains a third place type team in the SECE. In that event, stuff like this will get hauled out at every turn as people debate the next hire.

All in all, this is going to end up meaning one thing, and thats big ratings for this year's game. If for no other reason to see whether the UF fans behave themselves when Kiffin takes the field.

Tell you what -- and I hate to say this -- if I were a UT fan there is no way I would come to Gainesvile for that game.

A bit of an exaggeration there.

As I said in a couple of threads yesterday, last year you guys ran a fake punt when you were up by four touchdowns against Hawaii. You're telling me that Urban isn't already trying to run it up against everyone at every possible moment already?

We just finished our second losing season in four years. We're a has-been program that's been circling the drain for a decade. And yet yesterday it was a national story that our new coach stole a recruit away from Urban Meyer. Mike Hamilton should sent Foley a note thanking him for the free publicity; without his sanctimonious whining this thing would have died on the vine. The only thing I regret is that, in his "apology," Kiffin didn't throw in a sentence telling the press to ask Ole Miss's quarterback about how Urban "takes pride in doing things the right way."
