Chris Low just said Kiffin told him Crompton can get "drafted".

It's amazing how some people call themself UT fans but are so quick to criticize someone, it's really annoying. Stop hating and participate, you never know he could have a great year and maybe get drafted as a 6th or 7th round pick, who knows, we should just support him instead of criticizing him.

You said it man. We've got what we've got at QB. Your a fan of the Vols and support the team or you don't.

Crompton has always had the ability, he has made the choice not to succeed. He has what i call "The Vince Young Syndrome." Meaning........Vince has the arm strength to make any throw, yet does not make the effort to change his throwing mechanics for the better. Vince chooses to be unsuccessful by not trying to get better. Crompton has really only had 2 years to be judged. 1st year, he was the polar opposite of Ainge and was successful. Could throw deep and run people over. 2nd year, A NIGHTMARE!!!! If Crompton CHOOSES to look the safety away in this offense, he could finish in the top of the SEC in offensive categories and even better, WINS!

Crompton looks at the receiver he is going to throw to. THAT IS HIS DEMISE. if he took the advice of Mark Sanchez and followed a simple philosophy, he will win games

ALWAYS MAKE THE SAFETY GO TO THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE FIELD OF YOUR NUMBER #1 RECEIVER. IF HE IS COVERED, LOOK TIGHT END, IF HE IS COVERED, THROW TO RUNNING BACK, AND IF HE IS COVERED THROW IT OUT OF BOUNDS.

if crompton CHOOSES to use that simple philosophy, UT will win 9 games

Is all this Crompton bashing coming from the same people that have proclaimed LK as the king before he has coached a game?

Heck, if you believe in LK, and the staff that he has assembled, give them a freakin chance. That goes for JC as well.

And for God's sake, don't pretend you are Tebow and try to run it.

I think many people will be surprised by Crompton this year. He might even be come back player of the year.

Go in to it with an open mind. You will be pleased.

I'll be wearing my Crompdaddy likes :) shirt tomorrow.

I am pulling for him. I think he's gonna be way better this season. I may be wrong on timing but didn't Ainge improve greatly his SR year?

Ainge threw some horrific limp wristed balls to the flats that were pick 6 a few times his JR. year but his SR year he came out of the gate gunning the ball at those same routes for completions.

Im pumped up! I think people will be surprised at how hard and far Crompton can throw the balll this year. I haven't seen the long ball in person since last season and am so ready for the game.

QFT.

I have a hard time understanding why fellow Vols enjoy ripping on our starting QB a day before the season starts.

Couldn't agree more. One of the fundamental principles of working with young people is expectations: if you can show a kid you believe in him, and he believes you're sincere, more often than not he will live up to your expectations. Crompton had a bad year; Carson Palmer was widely being discussed as a bust going into his senior year. I'm not saying Crompton will win the Heisman, but I do think it's pretty silly for supposed Vol fans to bash him at the beginning of the season when a little classier attitude could perhaps boost his confidence, and make a difference for not only him but the entire team's season. You can say he shouldn't need the support of a few posters on a message board, but what if miraculously we all were pulling for him? If you were him, would you like being written off by your own fans right after the coach announced his confidence in you?

Crompton should put up huge numbers tommorrow against Western Kentucky, but I will be impressed if he can just be adequate against SEC competition. Even if that happens, he will never be an NFL qb. Casey Clausen, who was a good SEC qb could not make an NFL roster on opening day.

Next week will be a lot better test of where our offense and Crompton is.

Tomorrow should be a scrimmage, where we keep score.

Crompton in the NFL...what a joke....I'm sure them boys in the NFL are looking forward to seeing him hit those wide open moles in the ground.
Kiffin said in an interview with Tony Basillo this summer that Matt Leinart sucked in practice and the coaching staff thought he would transfer out to a Div1AA team, but he was barely able to squeak out ahead of Cassell for the starting spot, and when the lights came on, in game situations Leinart showed up.

I think he believes he can massage Crompton's confidence (he recruited Crompton while at USC), and get him to play in the games the way he does in practice. If that occurs, I wouldn't be surprised either...and I think Crompton would get a lot of attention for such a dramatic turn around.

You also have to take into account CLK, CMK, CEO, Chaney and Cregg's NFL connections could be a major factor in getting some team to take a chance. We'll see soon enough...but if Crompton has a good game against WKU and UCLA, I think he goes into the UF game with enough confidence to make a real game of it.

If we go into the Swamp and somehow come out with a win, and he plays reasonably well, suddenly a lot of media attention will focus on JC's turnaround

Are you kidding me? Does he mean by the Armed Forces?

yeah and then hell will freeze over

Kiffen haz lost his mynd.

I will gladly offer an apology if he remarkably becomes competent between summer practices/scrimmages and tomorrow.

It's not like the guy's been practicing in a cave. Everyone has seen his performance every day for the last 5 freakin years.

If talking about a players past performance is slamming them then I'm a slammer.

This is just Kiffin trying to make Crompton feel better. It's his job to do that. My question is, did Kiffin say Crompton would be drafted with a straight face?

We should make a thread like this for all of the people who are saying we will be a less than .500 team next year. Oh wait, there already is. I can't wait to do the same thing to those guys.
