Can we drop the pedo references. Plenty of reasons not to like him as a coach without trying to destroy him with a refuted allegation. Tampa hired him, pretty sure their investigators vetted him and saw no basis to the allegations.
Actually, no. And nor should we drop it. The fact that he has refuted allegations means nothing in this case. All that means is that he denies that he knew what was going on. FOR YEARS...and that he says he had no clue, that he never had a suspicion.
Utter BS. Im not buying that. Theres no way something like that goes on around you for years and you dont see something weird or strange or suspicious. And if you do and you dont at least question it, the you are at best a moral coward.
Also, the fact that he was vetted doesnt mean that he was thought to be innocent of knowing what was going on, it only means that he passed a few tests that satisfied whoever was investigating that Schiano couldnt be traced back to it, or that it cant be proven that he is lying about not knowing what was happening.
And, to be completely honest, whether he is guilty of complicity by not stepping forward or not, he is forever going to be tainted by his years of association on the PSU staff , and I dont want that taint anywhere near UT or around Tennessee football.
And dont bring up the tired innocent until proven guilty. This isnt a courtroom. But it is the court of public opinion, and when you are recruiting and trying to argue to a kid and his parents who love and care for him that your program is the best for their future...do you think for a second that that association wont make an impact on their decision? Or that other schools wont refer to it during their recruiting pitches?
No one is accusing him of being a pedophile. Its just believed by many that he was a moral coward and looked the other way...and it cant be PROVEN that hes a liar.
So, no. I wont be quiet about Schiano, and I wont stop talking about his years of association with Jerry Sandusky, and I wont ever support him coming to UT.
