I want the best possible coaches for UT. Neither fit that qualification.

Who has a better resume than Les that we can hire?

What NC champ/ SEC Champ coach who has won over 75% in the toughest division in CFB can we get?

Who do you think is better that we can get?

And Tee.
Won recruiter of the year before. May win AC of the year. That would mean he is literally the best AC out there. So . . .

Just listening to the replay of Hyams on 1045 this morning, and he also said he believes Fulmer would like to have someone in place by Wednesday or Thursday because they have a big recruiting weekend coming up.

Two obsevations/comments:

1) Coach Fulmer will do what he thinks is best for UT and will not make a panic hire. He has seen how they work out. If he hires by Thursday, it will be because he has a comfort level with the candidate, not because the weekend is coming (i.e. Dooley hire).

2) You don't have to be a UT alum to be a good AD or a good coach. You have to "know" or understand Tennessee to be good at either. Best examples, General Neyland and Doug Dickey.

I mean, we absolutely need a coach.

Even if this means a recruiting class of 3-stars, we have to start stabilizing the ship here. This whole weekend has been the polar opposite of the last 2-3 weekends, so I think it's been non-stop conversation between Phil and whoever all weekend, but I also think Phil is making sure everything makes sense.

I know there are a lot of people against Les, but at this point he brings name value, stability, and a positive resume to the table.

I'm just ready for it all to be over.

Why did none of the big schools go after Leach, Kiffin, Brohm, Norvell, Doeren, Schiano, Venebales, Pruitt, Sumlin etc?

Maybe they wanted a puppet to control? Not an established winner they can't push around. Maybe he wanted to wait for a top 10 job like UT? Who knows?

There’s been no word of ANY other team considering him. Shouldn’t that be a red flag, at least?

There has been no word of any team contacting any of the guys I posted but I bet there are a couple you would take and Miles has a better resume than them all.

I think with Miles we still have a great recruiting class and turn it around immediately.

If there's a coaching hire by Wednesday, that leads me to believe that Phil has pretty much known who the hire is the whole time. I don't see how you can do a total reset on a search and then have a coach signed, sealed, and delivered in about 4 days. That doesn't seem possible. Feldman says there has been a "total reset" on the search. If that's the case, it has to take a good while.

Relax, we have the best recruiter in the history of Tennessee football running things. We are ok with recruits. Yes we may loose Cade, but we will be ok. You do not rush a hire just to save one recruiting class. Getting the right guy for the future is more important.

Ok, I guess we will see. I’m just indifferent to a Miles hire.

Age....

I am surprised someone hired Herm Edwards at 63....a few years you are back where you started. Les and Tee is a great combo, especially if grooming Tee is the end game.

THIS! Les needs a creative mind to run the offense, and he needs to give the guy the room to do so. Likely what he and Fulmer would discuss, as well as who he would tap to run the defense. Again, all hypotheticals, but it seems logical to ask Miles these questions to plant the seed that he can't revert to old habits if he gets the job.

If Tee would come home, as OC, under Miles...that would be ideal given the recurrent nightmare that was last week. Tee could then be head coach in waiting, similar to Jimbo Fisher and Bowden at FSU (without the sad ending).

I'm sure CPF has his list narrowed down to a select few. He has not been living under a rock, and knows what kind of a coach he is looking for. I would like for the search to be over this week, but the recruits that are not committed to a school yet can still be swayed with the right coach, whether it's this week or next.

From his radio show last night:

"I think Tennessee will have somebody by Wednesday, at the latest, as their head football coach. I think they need to have somebody by Wednesday at the latest." -- Chris Low.

Full notes from the show included in this update: FreakNotes: Coaching search expected to wrap up this week - FreakNotes

Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the early national signing day for recruits happen on Sunday 10 December?
Not much time to save this class if we don't have someone in place immediately. Once hired, they will have to contact ALL of the recruits and that will be about 30 contacts before the 10th. Difficult to do if we don't get the hire until Wednesday or later.

Something to keep in mind is Phil's connections with Clemson football.... Brent Venables and Phil are actually friends... Whenever Dan brooks went toClemson Phil was his connection along with others.... I have spent several dinners with both of them.... Expect that to come into play.... And If coach brent did leave Clemson this would be as familiar as a place as any...

People keep using the term "retread" about Les (despite the fact this actually fits Kiffin much better since he was actually here before. I digress...). Do you know who else was a retread? Do you know who else people said underachieved with great talent? Rick Barnes. Have you seen what these guys are doing this year? Just best Georgia Tech last night. Only loss is to 5th ranked Villanova.

If that's what a retread is I'm all in.
