Yet again, he's throwing UT under the bus for something they can't even control. It's about Eric Berry's bro committing at 13. What he fails to understand is that UT isn't offering a scholly because he can't get one until (I believe) his soph season or until he registers with the NCAA as a prospect... Chris Leak did the exact same thing by committing when he was in 8th or 9th grade.

Heck, if committing to UT when you're 13 is a sin then I guess I'm a sinner. I committed to them too when I was 13, but over the next 4 years they never knew I existed and my name wasn't plastered all over Yahoo because of who my big brother is.....:whatever:

I think it's his junior year. Could be wrong.

Low must be slow at the office.

Its an opinion piece, take it as you may.

I take it as useless bashing. If he wanted to be fair with his "opinion" he could have pointed out Aaron Douglas, Chris Leak, and the hundreds of other prospects who commit to a school before they are able to receive a scholarship. Kentucky basketball makes a living off of recruiting middle schoolers.

Chris Low just seems to always put a negative spin on something. Yahoo simply reported it. Chris Low said it was absurd. He needs to do research on Chris Leak or any of the other examples of this exact same thing. Geez.

Chris Low knows all that stuff. His first few articles at ESPN were spectacular, and it's been a very steady decline since. It's like going from a respectable writer to a paparazzi magazine, and I blame it on ESPN. At least he uses 9th grade English skills, the other blog I read over there, the AFC west's Bill Williamson cant spell....at all. Nor can he use common sense.

Didn't some young cat commit to UK basketball not too long ago, he was about 13 wasn't he?

Chris Low. How appropriate.

When he writes, I use the "SeaWorld approach"...all I hear is clicks and whistles.

Most, not all, sports journalists are like criminal defense attorneys. There's no Low they won't sink to in order to make that next Lexus payment.

Chris Low is no exception. He is, instead, a classic example of the rule.

Go Vols.

I posted this in another thread but this might be the better place.

my favorite is all the comments on the article. one guy is so convinced that UT will fail because all the players are "jumping ship" in reference to the dozen or so that left, idk, 3 months ago now...

Most got a nice boot in the backside to help them "jump ship."

Writing crap like this only hurts Low's credibility. I think that since we have a young and fit coach, Low does not have anyone to belly up to the smorgasbord with anymore.

From the article:

The point is that the whole idea of kids committing to a school before they've ever even stepped foot in a high school classroom (and the publicity it generates) is absurd.

Stepping foot in a high school classroom generates publicity? I see that writing skills are not a prerequisite to be a columnist at ESPN.

As a big fan of SEC football, I read Chris Low's blog all the time. I don't agree with everything he writes, but generally speaking, most of his pieces are worth reading, IMO. It would stand to reason that Chris Low genuinely cares about the Vols. That said, I do get the impression that Chris favored giving Coach Fulmer more time to right the ship, and it seems pretty clear that he is not happy about UT hiring CLK. I could be wrong, but that's what it sure seems like.

Anything Kiffin or Vols related is making people interested. People are trying to make anything he does newsworthy.

It is actually pretty annoying that it has gotten like it has. Not saying Kiffin has done everything right, but it is getting a little out of control.

Anybody know if we can get Bill Simmons to cover SEC football? I love that guy and he'd be a welcome respite from that fat ass windbreaker wearing blow hard.

When Billy Gillespie actively recruited a middle school basketball player he was on the cutting edge of the next generation of recruiting. Evan Berry mentions he wants to go to school at Tennessee and the sports world does a double back flip. This off season crap is getting so stale.
