There are like 3 posters in the politics forum who turn every thread into a s*** show. It's hard to have good conversations. I don't know if I didn't notice them when Mav was around, or if they got worse, but damn something needs to change.

This thread certainly turned into a Royal Rumble of sorts. Everyone having a go at everyone.

I feel like I'm usually good at letting the snarky quips roll off my back (I would be a terrible sport if I didn't, seeing as I throw a few out from time to time), but when I'm hounded about Donnie Tyndal's courtside attire in a politics forum, I draw a line in the sand.

Huff doesn't mind when people disagree. He'd be bored stiff without arguing.

It's so boring when everybody agrees. It's so useless when disagreements devolve into pissing matches. I love it when people argue the things I say. People tend to argue points nobody made, while attributing these false arguments to people they disagree with...and of course the usual name-calling, which is always the best place to take an intellectual discussion.

I just wonder how much of it is done intentionally with the goal to disrupt, and how much of it is the poster being incapable of understanding what is being argued, and how to contribute.

I don't think it is wise to teach young Americans that all you need to do to gain fame, adoration, and notoriety from an entire nation of your peers is to go to the desert and shoot brown people with a sniper rifle. What he did may have been necessary from a tactical standpoint at the time. Taking lives, even ones that our country deems as evil, should never be done with a flippant or callous attitude. It is still a human person with skin and bones.

When you get frustrated and start obsessing about brown people and Donnie's Courtside appearance, I'd say you are pretty much out of meaningful things to say. And if you'll notice throughout the thread, I'm very reasonable to differing opinions that are presented without snarky douchebagery attached.

When I made the Tyndall comment the conversation had taken a severe change of course you must admit. It was merely a joke and I only kept it going to ruffle your feathers ( which clearly worked by the way). I apologize if you misinterpreted my post.

I freely acknowledge that there is a ton of gray area, but most in the "hero" camp are treating this like an open and shut case. No questions asked. In their black and white minds, he is a hero. I'm just tapping the breaks and trying to think my way through this. I have a hard time calling him a hero for the reasons I mentioned. That doesn't mean I think he is a murderous psychopath either, just not a hero.

It isn't being turned back on me. You are obsessing about a very trivial portion of my argument. I used the term brown originally as theater to make my point have more bite. It was not and has not been the central focus of any of my arguments.

Actually, I think I am the one that recognizes insults don't hurt at all...one of the reasons I don't use them. People that use them likely use them because they think they do hurt*, and are probably the type to take offense.

He saved countless American soldiers from injury and or death. He put his butt on the line when he was highly sought after by the enemy. Many other soldiers thought he was a hero, so I think they are the experts on the matter.
This board will praise a 18 year old for catching a winning TD, but can not understand the dedication and sacrifice of these kinds of men?
