Chris Kyle: American hero or

Seriously, though. It's like this place is allergic to objective discourse. Everyone is so emotionally attached to their beliefs. It's really ****ing sad.

It just reinforces the notion that America is just a giant sanctuary for materialistic, self indulgent pu$$ies who romanticize strength over knowledge. It's almost considered a sad joke if you don't exhibit nationalistic penis envy for the war hero on TV, fictional or no.

That's a little simplistic isn't it?

This is nothing more than the primate cage where we all engage in feces throwing... if you take it as anything more than that... THAT is what's sad...

I think your acceptance of an open forum for discussion on specific subject matter as what you described, is sad.

This is coming from someone who regularly derails threads to talk about how stupid specific posters are... and good whiskey.

Man if only that were true. Money's tight and the ol' lady's dog is sick so I shifted priorities on the allocation of funds.

That's what these are for:

And what's wrong with finding the actual definition of a horrifically romanticized word?

Not a thing. I'm simply pointing out that hero, as you pointed out, has a very subjective definition. If you are going to ask TRUT that question you will never get an answer because he will debate the definition for a month.

That is all

Think about how bad Sparta would have been.

Think about what Spartans would say about us.

Think about what Sparta would have turned some of us into.

This explains a lot. It may not be more than that, but that's on you. You get out what you put in.

Do you really think anybody is gonna change their mind on anything, based on anything said here? You might get a little victory here and there, but for the most part, everybody's mind is where it is. For example, the anarchists are full of crap, and nothing they can say will change my mind on that. A third party has zero chance of winning in the general election, and no matter how well you portray a candidate, it is a wasted vote. The one thing we can all agree on is that Bama and Florida suck; the disagreement is on which one sucks the most.

I've changed my mind on a lot of things based on what's been said here (and online in general). When I started hitting message boards I was a religious neocon.

Not everybody is totally close-minded.

I've changed my mind plenty of times due to lengthy discussions on here. I think you just admitted to closing your mind a great deal.

This as well as spending several hours per week reading various subjects over the last couple of years. I would have considered myself a neocon as recently as 2012. I talked a ton about the virtues of small government while simultaneously blindly defending the liberty crushing overreach of the military and police force.

And how exactly is the military involved in this?

And to be fair, one reason I started leaning libertarian is because of the stuff I became interested in reading that related to my economics major. I tried to read everything, like Nickel and Dimed and The Communist Manifesto, but who knows how open-minded I actually was when I read them. You can say you tried, but it's subconscious.

My best friend went L*, and I was skeptical at first, but then I was convinced. Then I found an-cap and I was really skeptical, but I read more and was convinced.

*It's funny because arguments I had made before he went L were what convinced him he should be L. So he knew he could sell me on L.

And how exactly is the military involved in this?

They don't infringe on our liberty with their actions, but I care about everyone's liberty. Our liberty is threatened by the debt accrued operating the military industrial complex.

Eisenhower warned us about this. He told us exactly what would happen.
