Chris Kyle: American hero or

Have you not made a similar statement in this thread? Chris Kyle was just following orders. He can't control where he fights or who he fights. His job is to follow orders.

You are correct....when his leaders said shoot any male "brown person" he opened fire.

Not illegal ones and military action on US soil against US citizens would be illegal.

Now you might be smart enough to know declaring martial law supersedes this but if martial law was declared and the military was order to attack, I think you'd see mass desertion and rebellion. Soldiers are not the mindless automatons you make them out to be.

I can assure you if orders came down to shoot and kill other americans, it ain't gonna happen. There'd be more court martial's than deaths.

Doesn't necessarily have to be an order to shoot and kill Americans. Perhaps just using the military as a way to enforce policies domestically.

And here's a less sarcastic point. If you're truly afraid of losing your individual liberties, I would be keeping a much closer eye on our federal government and Police than the guys warring over patches of sand across the ocean.

fixed:hi:

You're really underestimating the ability of soldiers to have their paradigm shifted through training tactics. I would hope you are correct, but I wouldn't make any bets. After all, did we ever think there would be a day where law enforcement had the kind of tools at their disposal that they do today? Or that in many cases, would have such disdain for individuals' rights?

No I'm not.

There's a difference between training tactics for urban environments and those troops using their moral compass if orders for domestic issues arise.

Everybody is capable of having their paradigms shifted. It all depends on who is training them and how they're training them.

These men and women also know that there are an estimated 117 million homes with firearms. Some have multiple weapons. Some have weapons caches. They are not going to turn on the US citizens.

Unless things have drastically changed most of the combat troops are HS grads, many have some college, from the south small town or rural guys. LT whatever his name isn't going to get a very positive response issuing an order to shoot Americans from these guys.

Their training, not brainwashing.

Let's assume that soldiers would never be brainwashed as part of their training (which isn't necessarily the case. Why is it impossible that they could be brainwashed?), there are ways of slowly changing people's minds that don't involve brainwashing.

I'm glad you're so sure. You have a lot more faith in your government than history would deem advisable.

You are full of insight today. Please, post more!

Well since I served in the military, I think I can safely say that your comment about "blindly following orders" is the most stupid thing you've said today, and that is an accomplishment.
