I'm not sure if many of you know about this man. He is a native of Tennessee (South Pittsburg, TN). Has mountains of football coaching experience. Is a proven winner and could probably be enticed away from his current job for the right $$$.

Yes, I am talking about Chris Jones, the HFC for the Saskatchewan Rough Riders in the CFL.

Before you laugh it up consider his resume.

4- Gray Cup Championships (Equivalent to the NFL's Super Bowl Lombardi Trophy)
7- Gray Cup Appearances

- He has been successful everywhere he has been.
- He has CFB coaching experience (its been some time admittedly)

Now, how does Pro HC success translate to College SEC HC Football Success? I do not know that. However, we have another thread rooting for a man who has won LESS championships.

Plus he talks like he is from around here. LOL

What do you all think? There are tons of YouTube videos of his pressers if anyone wants to take a look.

thanks!

Sorry but we’ve already seen this experiment with Marc Trestman. No thanks.

Relatively young with an impressive resume.

I would take him over Butch.

Not going to knock him, he may be a great coach. But to correct the OP, he has one Gray Cup as a head coach. The others he was an assistant coach.

No correction needed. I never said he won 4 as a HC. He is a Defensive minded coach. Doesn't change the fact that he has 4 rings as a coach.

I like that he's a proven winner with local ties but his college experience is way too limited. I think UT needs to go outside the box with this hire, but this would be a little too far out IMHO

He'd be called with too many men on the field

Never watched the CFL. I take it they're allowed to have more than 11 on the field? What other rule differences are there?

And at this point, I'm not against us considering anyone. Would this guy be at the top of my list? No, but we have no guarantee anyone at the top will say yes. So dig deep, and pray whoever the next HC is can do all the things a college HC needs to do, from recruiting, to developing, to winning.

Here is a pretty good video from Warren Moon explaining the differences. It's pretty fast paced and exciting to watch.

I think it's awesome to see a native have success at any level but I don't think this is the hire we want. Nothing against him because who knows he could be a Saban in the rough but we need a proven winner/developer in CFB. Especially, with where we are at in the program.

Good grief man, you said he had 4 Grey Cups, assistant coaches don't win Grey Cups. You are DQ'd.
