Chris Jones and Kevin Ware

I don't think recruits should be forced to play for a coach they have no connection to.

And that is why, drum roll please, you sign with a school and not a coach.

The grant-in-aid does not say University of Calcheat....it says University of Ky.

Your previous post was referring to the violation he committed at UWM. That's all I was referring to. Yes, the lie to the NCAA was unfortunate. The staff and the university have paid a pretty hefty price for that. As for the other violations, they happen everywhere. You don't commit secondaries, you aren't going to last long as a coach.

A paper cut is unfortunate.

A blatant lie to the governing body of your profession is a lot more than unfortunate.

A blatant lie, followed by asking the parents of a recruit to lie, plus a separate unfortunate incident four days after apologizing to the world for the first unfortunate incident.

It is pretty difficult to defend.

Yet Pearl thought he would have the opportunity to defend himself as coach of UT in June. What would he say--I'm a pathological liar and have ethical issues. I'm a sick man and shouldn't be punished. It's a disease, you know.

I think there's a case, but it won't happen. In both the Pearl and Dooley cases, we said that the guys committed to a school, not to a coach. Not to mention it would cripple the program to lose an entire recruiting class in addition to 5 seniors and possibly two jumping to the NBA.

Players commit to a coach, not a program. Same reason all those players left Memphis for UK last year.

NCAA will release Jones and Ware. Please see Derrick Williams, a USC commit to Tim Floyd, who is know playing for Arizona.

IMO - UT should feel some kind of moral obligation to release Jones and Ware if they want to jump ship. I hope they don't, but it seems like this should be a good enough reason for a release.
