Families should never be on message boards. It will get you angry and do nothing to help your kid

No one is mad! Its just annoying that some people on here claim to know everything when they really don't know nothing. This is what it is...a message board! Everyone feel free to bash CD all you want! It won't make me mad at all. I will always pull for CD, like I will all our fellow vols. I'm not worried about CD at all, he has plenty upside & will be fine. He has the tools, he just need to learn the system & his responsibilities. Some actual game reps will help him more than anything at this stage. He's a gamer!!

Most coaches worth anything at all actually make "gamers" prove something on the practice field before trusting them with game reps. I know it's crazy not to simply take your word for it, but it does seem to work with the proof in the pudding.

FTR, I'm a Donald fan and can't wait for him to figure it out. He has better wheels than everyone else we have at that spot. Wheels kill at the LB spot.

I agree with you. Most kids must show up in practice before a coach will give them a chance. I think EB is the only player on this team that could get away with out practicing. On the other hand, EB is a very special player and not many players have the football IQ and physical skills that he is blessed with. CD is practicing hard, its just that some players get alot more hype for actual game play. Some players practice good but dont perform in a game. (Ex. Crompton last year). I am a believer that you should always practice hard and it will lead to good things. I mean you can study a play book so much, but until you get some game time (hands on experience) its not going to do much good. I mean BJ Coleman is a smart kid, but was he the best athlete on the team?? :shakehead:

IMO, its all on CD. We all know he has the physical tools & speed! Its up to him to learn & adapt to Monte's system. If he keeps improving & working hard, the staff will recognize that. These frosh that's coming in are going to be
pushing him harder & will be competing for playing time also. IMO,this upcoming fall will separate the men from the boys. If everyone will really get a fair shot, then it all comes down who wants it more. I can see the LB position really heating up this fall. Its going to be some fierce competition & position battles.

Listen I know you want to help people's opinions of your family member but fighting with people on a message board will not change peoples minds. If I were CD I'd be embarrassed by having a family member on message boards posting about me.

U don't know CD! If it wasn't for him, HHS would have never won a STATE title his freshman year. Milan owned huntingdon until the CD era! Milan had T.Bell shut down in the TSSAA play offs. They had to go to a freshman named DONALD in clutch time. CD took the game over, 277 rush yards & 5 tds . All you have to do is ask B.Warren who was the best player he ever played against in H.S.
CD was unstoppable period! If ALCOA is not competition then who is?? CD was the best player on the field when he played! CD is doing things the right way & will earn his spot. I'm telling ya, he won't be denied! CD's a born leader, he's is going to be more important this year than most think.

Maybe you and I were at a different game. The game I was at was when Chris Donald was a freshman (same size he is as a 20 year old, today). It was the semi-final game against Milan. It was cold and there were about 4000 people there. Don't start telling that the temperature was in the teens or that there were more people than that, there. I am pretty close on the crowd estimate and I know the temperature was 34 degrees because that's what it was when I got back in my truck after the game was over.
Anywho... It is true that Donald had a lot of yards. Both receiving and rushing. I am not sure of your yardage quote or the TD total. It's possible, I suppose, but it wasn't like he was tearing off 30 yard runs every time he touched the ball. He had one long run and one long reception that I can remember. He was running through holes you could drive a Winnebago through, courtesy of that huge line...especially that Nellett kid. Also, Milan was MUCH more concerned with keeping Bell contained. One short pass to Donald that turned into a sizable gain that I particularly remember was when Milan blitzed. The safety was grossly out of position and the linebackers were looking at the cheerleaders or something. Donald stopped, turned around, stood for a couple of seconds and waited for a floater from the QB to land in his bread basket. He then turned and scampered up the field, already behind Milan's out of position defense.
Look, I am not anti-Chris Donald at all. I hope it clicks for him and he turns out to be all that he was supposed to be according to the scouting reports. Until he does, I will stick to my guns about him not being worthy of a 5 star rating. He was a 3 star prospect at best. I'll say this every time I post something about Donald...IT WASN'T HIS FAULT THAT HE WAS ERRONEOUSLY RANKED SO HIGHLY. Sorry if any family members or friends take offense at this. I understand that he is a very good kid and has a very good family. That doesn't make him capable of excelling at D1 football, though. In my opinion, a true 5 star recruit is a threat to start as a true freshman. Anyone disagree with this?

What are you jealous or something??
Again nobodys fighting with anyone! I know the difference between an opinion and a lie. Opinions im not against. Its people on here that are spreading false rumors and claiming to know certain facts about chris, when their facts are wrong. I wish you would get your story straight before you try to address me. CD has nothing to be embarrassed about! IMO, the people who should be embarrassed are the ones thats bash him for no reason on here. He bleeds orange!! CD will let his play on the field to the talking. He nor i are concerned about anyones negative opinion on him. Real facts are real facts, but opinions are like A holes, everybody has one. :moon2:

Im tired of having to explain the same thing over and over. Im done with it. Let CD finish his career at UT and then we can comment about it all.
Have a nice day sir!!

You know you're old when people really don't care what you did in high school.
I don't care bout high school football either, except for who UT's trying to recruit.
People just claim to know all these facts, when the real fact is, when HHS needed to win, they got #19 the ball.

I been a UT fan all my life! I don't understand why I shouldn't be a part of volnation. I attend games annually & love the vols. I was a vol fan when CD was in diapers. I'm a true fan, I can't help that he is my kinfolk.

i think what most folks are trying to say is that it's very uncouth to jaw back and forth about your family member on a message board full of opinionated people.

My point: If you're not looking for attention, don't mention that someone is your family member. Otherwise people assume you're looking for attention and/or notoriety.

I understand what you are trying to say. You don't know me at all, because I have never been the one that craves attention. I'm totally opposite, I don't want attn.
Am I happy for my nephew...yes...do I want attn for it...no.
Again that's your opinion on me. Already being a vol fan, I'm just very proud of my nephew & wishing him well. I promise it has nothing to do with attn. CD's the same way, he don't want attn, he wants to help UT be a winner again.
I didn't know it was wrong to have pride for UT football & my family.

Nothing is wrong with it. Like I said before, grow some thick skin. These people are not afraid to throw shots behind a keyboard. BUT, realize, that everyone has an opinion. And just because you don't agree with their opinion and you happen to be family, doesn't mean you're right.

In this case, I really like CD, and if he is able to get the system and get on the field, GREAT! Him and EB will be the scariest combo in the nation

Hey Kinfolk. There are many people that come to these sites to read but typically refrain from posting. Heck, most my Vol peers do not visit at all. Point being don't think this (or any other) message board represents the majority of Vol fans' opinions. Chris has already accomplished more than most of us. We wish him the greatest success whether on the field, professionally (at a later date ) or otherwise. That said, to offer an opinion of his accomplishments while at UT is premature. Perhaps he is the next Robert Ayers waiting to come into his own. I think all of us hope so.

Laugh all you want! Maybe it is little unprofessional to post bout family members. I never thought of it like that! I guess I got caught up in being a fan & fam member.
Therefore I will not participate in any more "CD" threads. I hope that makes everyone happy & "comfortable" to express their “opinions”.
I only have one last thing to say..We shall see who gets the last laugh "DUDE".
LMAO!!

Thanks! I can tell that you are one of the intelligent vol fans on this site. I hate I said anything & got caught up in this crap. Some of these folks are as ignorant as bammers. I mean some people think if CLK wears a visor that it will make UT win games. LOL!
Again thanks, I know you wish the entire team well & so do I. Thanks to everyone that wishes CD & the team well.
Its our time, its DUE SEASON! GO VOLS!!

I won't say CD was overrated by the recruiting services--but I lot of kids are because they show well as sophs or juniors and perhaps hit a plateau while other kids come on late---their senior years, sometimes even late in their senior year--and don't get the recognition they deserve. The idea that these ratings services are the last word on HS football talent is laughable--we're not exactly talking NFL scouts here. I'd be curious to know how many people actually scout hs players for scout and rivals, how much experience they have, and how many times they see players. There are an absolute TON of HS players in America, and many good ones go unnoticed until late, or develop late, and they are the players who show better in college than the kid who were studs as hs juniors.

Too easy to bang on a keyboard, some just do it without thinking. Many that post here offer great insight though. Either way, gotta love the passion.

I hope you are correct about "DUE SEASON". The SEC is heating up and looking at the rosters of FL, GA, LSU and BAMA it may get worse before it gets better. We need to stack our roster with similar depth to remain healthy and compete. Personally, I am concerned about 2010.

Hope this staff gets the opportunity to see their vision through. Don't want to see the coaching carousel at UT. I think most are willing to be patient as long as progress is being made. Time wil tell.
