hey what happened to this guy? is he still at UT? did he get kicked off, was he a major bust, or did fulmer just think he wasnt experienced enough to play?

I hope he gets a fresh start under Kiffin. Instead of the next Al Wilson, hes looking more like the next Daniel Brooks.

He has been a bust. He's still got time but from first day of practice as I understand that it was clear he will not be as good as he was expected to be.

Define bust. Is it our expectations or the ability he truly has that he doesn't use to the fullest?

everyone will....and then we'll probably see a bunch of those guys put back under the same not quite yet ready to play list

Marvin Mitchell didn't start until his fourth or fifth year. He was great for us at MLB. Ellix Wilson went the same route. He was extremely solid. Chris Donald's career hasn't been defined yet. Hell, look at how great Robert Ayers was this past season. He'd did nothing of note in his first two years.

While the CPF camp is gone for the most part, I still get the gut feeling that players like this guy just need a mentor to blossom. They get a scholarship, report to the campus and get ostracisied. Maybe just maybe some really good athletes have issues with fitting in, it's a shame too cause who knows how many others have been this path and couldve been great players contributing.

I'd guarantee it. He's got the skill and athleticism (i've seen it firsthand many times), but you don't usually go from high school 2A football to the SEC without some major growing pangs.

Patrick Willis was a no-name at Ole Miss till Orgeron got there.

What is Chris Donald's natural position and how much more eligibility does he have?

I agree with all that you guys are saying. the development of players has slacked this decade. World beaters walk in to UT and are never heard from again until they are seniors. I thik Phil let the staff do a poor job of instructing recruits and relied on the people who have been around too much. I am excited about the prospect of letting them earn their time. Much of what translate to great football on Saturdays in the fall has to be done by the kids year round. Coacj Kiffin's new plan gives the new guys hope to be able to play, as well as makes the vet's continue to strive to be better or get passed by a freshman.

I just don't buy this. Chris Donald had the same coaches that Jerod Mayo had. The chief knew how to coach linebackers. I think it has more to do with Donald than it does with the coaching.

Our defense was good but it didn't just dominate games. It was good not great defense. It seemed like we stopped people not shut them down. We didn't really have a whole lot of big plays outside of Berry. So #4 ranked defense is somewhat misleading. I never got the feeling we could just take a team completely out of their game. I think the scheme is the reason I felt this way. Chavis has a habit of going to sleep in the game and playing soft coverages while not blitzing. Kiffin's defenses continue to apply pressure even when they have comfortable leads.

I grew up in the same area as Chris Donald, and I played against him for three years in high school and I can guarantee you that this guy will eventually play. He is an absolute beast on the football field, and an even better guy off the field. We were in 2A football so its going to take him a little time to adjust to major D1 SEC football. Look for him to compete for a starting spot under coach Kiffin this spring.

He will have his chance this year with kiffin letting evryone prove they are a starter. Is donald a red shirt soph?

The point I was making was that it is impossible (not difficult, impossible) to have the #4 ranked D in the nation in a BCS conference and not have a clue what you're doing.

A fresh start means a lot. The previous staff had pre determined opinions of the players that are sometimes hard to shake. Sometimes your first impression is your last one that comes to mind unfairly

It wasn't like cupboard was bare either. We had pretty good athletes. So it goes hand in hand. I mean he knows something but he schemes are old and outdated.
