If you’re just looking for something to be offended about guess that’s as good as anything. It still doesn’t change the fact that he didn’t lie about anything. Where their programs are compared to UT is irrelevant. His comment was that they’ve got to consistently beat teams of that caliber before he believes. I don’t understand the “taking credit for” comment so I can’t agree or disagree with it.

I believe we are finally getting the talent needed to be competitive with Georgia, Florida, and Alabama. In fact, I believe we have an even chance to beat two of them this year. Our Oline is young, but very talented. The defense is getting better, especially at LB and the secondary. Special teams ar special. Receivers are talented and will improve as they get playing time. Our Offense has become more complex and diversified. We are at the beginning of a very good run for the next few years.

Our LOS on both sides has to win there share. We cannot get pushed around. I hope they heard Doering, and are focused on showing everybody we will not be pushed around. Got to play smart but we have to play physical, we must bring the fight and keep it going all day. GBO!

Seems silly to not include other sec teams. What is so special about those 3? 2 of those are special. The third is a turd with an abysmal record.

Historically, the Vols 3 biggest games every year has been FL, GA and AL. It’s been that way since the 90s. That Heupel is 4-8 against those 3 is progress but nothing to brag about or negate the likes of Doering. We may not like his comments, but he’s not wrong.

In case you missed it, I did say that we've shown progress vs Bama and UF of late but need consistency. We're 3-7 against both LSU and UF in the last 10. We're 2-8 against bama and UGA in the last 10.....with an 8 game losing streak vs the Dawgs. I know half of that history predates Heupel, but my point is the wins need to be way more consistent going forward AND this annual stinker game needs to go the way of the dodo.

Yeah, we have the occasional win, but to be up there with the big names in this league, those wins can't continue to be few and far between. Hoping we won't face similar results vs Texas when they roll onto the schedule.

It's still silly. We're pulling ourselves out of the cellar. A time we didn't win sec games...or win many.
I didn't claim he was wrong. I claimed it's a silly (myopic) way to look at our program.

This is the future.

In the future, I predict our top competitors will be Georgia (as long as Kirby Smart is still there) and Texas. Maybe Bama too, but maybe not. Others will rotate into and out of the equation from year to year: LSU, Oklahoma, A&M, and yah maybe even Florida now and then. Maybe Auburn from time to time. But mostly, Georgia - Texas - Bama - Tennessee. That's the future top tier of the conference.

To take the holistic view, first it was Vandy ... then it was Bama ... then it was Florida ... next it's Georgia and Texas. Plus ca change.

Well to be fair, it’s mostly Georgia that is the bugaboo. He should be better than 2-2 against Florida but 4-4 against Bama and Florida is better than it has been for a long time

he ain't wrong, but that's also an easy hill to die one when TN rotates to Ben Hill and Bryant Denny. Respect is earned. But if Doering thinks playing Marshall, Austin Peay, and Charlotte is better?

If you want to be fair, then talent is the answer. UGA has proven that when you have a bunch of 5* and 4*, you will field a superior team...period.
