Sad, but not surprised. He was fun to watch this year. Please God, let the Titans or the Saints draft him, and not the Patriots or the Cowboys. Still wondering what I did that was so heinous that my punishment was Bazooka Joe being drafted by the Patriots, my second most hated NFL team, and then traded to the Cowboys, my most hated NFL team.

I'm starting to think that the only players who will play in bowls (not the CFP), are:
1. Rising sophomores
2. Rising juniors
3. Juniors/Seniors who are not destined for the NFL

The rest......forgetaboudit

I'm OK with that. Give the youngsters the extra practice reps and game experience. It's great for young players and young teams. Tennessee is the youngest team in the SEC. Half the roster are freshmen. This bowl game will pay huge dividends over the next few years.

Why would he want to play in the bowl game? Nothing to gain for him. This is not 1985 and be true to your school. He has a chance to make millions of dollars in the NFL. Playing against Illinois in a bowl game is not at the top of his to do list.

Its better long term to produce nfl players and couldn't be for a better one here. Just hope he doesn't get drafted by a team like the titans and can see rings

With the bowls meaningless, I'd be good with the coaches agreeing to make it like a JV game. Start getting your backups some reps for next year.

Never thought for a second he would play in the MCB. Nor should anyone else in today's environment. Proud of this young man. Thanks for the Brazzle Dazzle all year.

Expect the same from Hood. Probably Josephs. Not sure about Heard, Carter, etc
if we were playing for championships, or even a warm bowl. maybe...

who the hell wants to get hurt in commode door stadium?

There is nothing to be gained in him playing in this bowl game. He is absolutely making the right choice if he has a high draft grade.

I imagine he’s goin to go full Notre Dame next?
Nor should he.

At this point the non-playoff bowls are chance for young players to show what they got for next season. and maybe a last hurrah for seniors that don’t have high pro prospects.

It’s absolutely the smart decision. I assume he will fair very well in the Draft, no reason to risk an injury and potentially falling in the Draft. He has a chance to be a very good NFL WR and I would hate to see him be one of the unfortunate players that has it all jeopardized or ruined bc of injury. Especially in this bowl game. Besides, it’s time for TN to start working for next season as much as possible.

He’s done a great a job this year and has shown how much he’s improved. He’s shown that he can play well in big moments against elite competition , the game winner vs Bama last year and an outstanding performance against UGA this year . Hopefully he grades out well and winds up in a good situation. No Cleveland or Jets would be ideal

I wasn’t knocking him, if that’s what he wants to do, more power to him.

I look at that whole situation 2 different ways. I know his future is bright and there is a chance for injury. But I’m a Vol through and through and I would never bail on my team as long as am still able to play as a Vol.
