Cho contacted NBC

Quit blaming NBC.

There was a time when the news department of a major network wouldn't have given this guy the airtime, like when they cut away from a baseball game when somebody runs on the field. And then there was a much longer time when the network would have at least publicly agonized about showing it, before finally blustering about "the public's right to know." Now they relentlessly promote it all day on their website beforehand. I'm not really blaming NBC, per se, because obviously the idea that network news represents anything other than a kind of extended reality show is long dead -- everything's just entertainment now. Call it a lament rather than blame.

And you can bet that the next shooter to come along will have been watching tonight, too.

I think it is great that NBC and SmokingGun posted those documents. Like someone said eariler, he will now, because of the postings of these documents, be remembered as simply a psycho that contributed nothing to society. While I realize he wanted to be a martyr (or just wanted to be a a*shole to the types or specific individuals who caused him pain or he was jealous of), I would think your ideas/rablings should at least have direction or a point and be somewhat intellectual and thought provocing. So therefore, I think we should remember Choade as a what he was, a real loser.

Well through all the "documents" it just puts in concrete that he was a weak individual.

On a side note, (I saw this on deadspin today). One of the students killed was a poster at a Detroit Tigers message board. Somehow they figured it out now all the people of that board are getting money together and doing something in his name. That's pretty cool, man, some nice people.

NBC could have told us the gist of the videos without actually airing them. Instead, as has been said, they fulfilled the dying wish of a madman.

i don't think he meant to direct it at his daughter obviously, but i am very surprised he said this about his grandson

Oh I know he wasn't talking about his daughter...it just struck funny.

He definitely didn't have anything good to say about the grandson. The grandfather's sister even called the kid an a--hole.

Haven't seen the responses of his family. This whole thing is so very sad from all perspectives.

As bad as it may seem, I somehow felt sorry for Cho. Apparently he was bullied and picked on all of his life. (This does not excuse his heinous act, though.)

I always tried to teach my children to never be bullies and try to be kind to everyone even the unpopular kids. Not to preach a sermon here, but most of have no influence on the fortunes of our beloved Vols sports teams but we do have a responsibility in bringing up our kids.

As an aside, the mental health system in this country is a travesty and sick individuaals will continue to slip through the cracks and repeats of the Va. Tech tragedy will occur over and over.
