Incident

++++++++++++++++++++++++++

A UT Fan who was nearby:

"I was 9 rows behind our bench and everyone stood and started looking down at our bench, by the time I stood to see what was going on , Chism was going crazy and was being restrained - he then turned and left the bench and went to the locker room . A few asst. coaches went in and a few minutes later he came back."

John Currie, Tennessee's senior associate athletics director for external operations, tried to step in front of Pearl and keep him from talking with the media about the situation.

That, I truly would have loved to have seen...

Bob & Bert must not have even noticed anything going on, because I don't think they mentioned anything on the radio. I hope that this is really nothing, and that it has just gotten blow out of porportion. Wayne has had his struggles this year, but I like him. I think an off-season with Coach Pearl and with Troy Wills will do wonders for him.

That is precisely what it is. Whatever the circumstances. Heat of the moment. It's over.
Yep,,, don't think it''ll manifest into anything other than just that. Chism and Crews obviously get along, earlier in the year Crews asked Coach to let Chism start in his place against Memphis. Great respect between those two.

When pressed on the subject, Pearl became angry and snapped. "Maybe he had (to go to the bathroom)."
When ya gotta go, you gotta go. Seriously, I've seen it happen before when I played. Maybe Wayne had too much gatorade during the game or ate some taco bell before the game

I hear from the basillio show that someone in the crowd called him th "n" word. This is not substantiated by any other sources at this time a UT has not made an official statement.

Freshman center Wayne Chism momentarily left the bench during Tennessee's game at Vanderbilt on Wednesday night to deal with an asthma attack, Chism told the News Sentinel on Thursday.

Chism was seen leaving the bench in the second half, yanking at his jersey and shoving teammate Duke Crews, according to a report on the Tennessean.com website Thursday.

"I was frustrated and my chest started hurting," Chism explained Thursday. "It was terrible. I couldn't catch my breath. So, I went to the locker room and splashed water on my face and calmed down."

Thats what I don't understand. I mean I get that you are leaving the bench because your having an asthma attack, but why did he shove crews?

I was there and didn't see a "shove" what I saw was Chism storm off and Crews grabbing him to stop him... Crews then came back to the bench and a few minutes later Chism returned.

I'm just gonna let this go. It's a non story. I'm betting we have already spent tons more time on it than Duke and Wayne ever did...
