Chip Kelly IS Phil Fulmer reborn

I just had to share this with UT fans, because no one else on the national board understood it yesterday.

But after watching the Oregon BSU FIASCO, I couldn't help but notice the comparisons.

1. Oregon was completely unprepared. It was shameful.
2. When things got bad CK looked like a deer in the headlights.
3. When things got really bad, he would walk around a few steps and clap meekly to "energize" his players.
4. Given 85 different chances to comeback and win, his team self destructed.

So, I have to say one thing. At least when UT takes the field this year, no matter how bad they MIGHT be, at least you know you won't have a limp **** like Chip Kelly or Phil Fulmer on the sidelines anymore.

That performance was pathetic.

Please murder UCLA.

I kind of see your point but Fulmer won hundreds of games, a national title and a pair of SEC titles.

Well to be fair, he didn't just "walk up" to the guy. The guy tapped him on the shoulder and started trash talking him and then the Oregon player punched him. I'm not justifying what the Oregon player did at ALL. There's not excuse for what he did and he should be suspended in my opinion. However he did not just single a player out, walk up to him and punch him.

Well to be REALLY fair, the Oregon dude was trash talking all week and before kickoff. He can dish it but can't take it. AND-- when you hit a guy with his head turned----we call it a Sucker Punch. Dude then went after the Boise fans. 5 game suspension should cool him down. Personally, I'd like to see him no more in 09. THUG.

The most glaring comparison to Fulmer came after the game when commenting on Blount who punched the Boise State player, Kelly said "I will have to watch the tape and then make a decision"

If you have to watch film to determine that your player hitting a player on another team is repulsive, then you have some serious problems. I hate people that give political answers. That's why I can at least appreciate Spurrier, the guy is as blatant as they come.

But is he a great coach? I consider a great coach one that can at least play .500 or better against other top-flight coaches. Phil has lined up with Paterno, Spurrier, Meyer, Richt, Saban, Bowden, Tubberville and Miles. I'd be curious as to what his record was against these guys.

I believe its around .250 with those guys. Other than being 1-0 against Bowden, he hasn't even pulled a draw with any of those. The closed being Richt at 3-5.

Winless against Paterno and Meyer, only 1 win out of 5 against Saban.

In fairness to Fulmer, he was never THAT bad until recently.

I still can't get over how bad a coaching job that was. Seriously. I think a group of us could have done a better job for 10 bucks an hour.

more pointedly towards the events of last night, does anyone know what the Boise St. player said to Blount (Oregon player) that caused him to go off the deep end?

There is no excusing Blount's actions, but I do think it is pretty low to go talk sh*t to an opponent after you've beaten them. There are few actions which demonstrate poor sportsmanship like kicking a beaten opponent (sucker punching an opponent being one of them). From the looks of it, it appeared he was trying to incite Blount. That said, no matter how well Blount plays this year, there will be huge questions about his character that follow him for some time.

I am just looking forward to the rest of the country realizing how disciplined UT is under Kiffin. While a few loyal fans already know the character turn around of our program, soon it will be apparent to everyone else as well.

Blount should be charged with battery. After the game is over, and you punch someone with their helmet off, when they're not looking at you, you should be arrested.

He should be kicked off the team, kicked out of school, and arrested. It is a disgrace if Oregon allows that kind of behavior.

After watching that video over and over, one thing that blew my mind was Blount was completely surrounded by Boise State players. After he punched that guy, I'm amazed he did not get mobbed by the other Boised State boys. They just sort of stood there with that look on their face like "uh, did he REALLY just do that?!?"

0-2 vs Paterno
5-9 vs Spurrier
0-4 vs Meyer
0-3 vs Saban
1-0 vs Bowden
3-4 vs Tubberville
1-2 vs Miles
10-24 overall

The Boise State player's brother emailed ESPN radio this morning. He said his brother tapped Blount on the shoulder and said "How bout that A** whoopin". The comment was in response to the trash talking Blount had been doing all week. The ESPN analyst said he watched the replay 60 times, and it appears that's all he said.

Interesting.

So it seems Blount can't take what he gives.

I'm pretty sure his dismissal was automatic due to drugs.

Now that I think about it, I think you're right. But it's actually a pretty similar situation . . . It's not like Chip Kelly had much of a choice to make.

He sucked as a coach from day 1. RGs recruiting and coordinator coaching won him a title.

I might believe that had I not seen his results from 89-92 when he was calling the plays. I always thought he was a good football guy and a suspect manager.
