Chip Kelly "Haven't gotten a call yet"

I think he'd rather coach outside of the SEC, preferably on the West Coast, where expectations aren't quite as high.

Regardless where he ends up expectations will be high. That's what happens when you have a track record like Chip Kelly does. Do you honestly believe that if he ended up at a school like UCLA, USC, Washington, etc that they aren't going to expect him to win the division within 5 years?

Not sure i want him, but he would be better than what we currently have. He never had a defense at Oregon. Won't get away with that in this conference.

Never really needed one with how fast and often his offense scored points.

Not buying that Kelly is racist.

I don't think he is either, he's is in the wrong profession if he is. Trent is a good guy but truthfully I think his pride was hurt because he wanted to retire a Eagle and Kelly is one of the reasons's that didn't happen. When a man's pride is hurt he may say things that he might not mean.

Also I wasn't there, Trent didn't say this to my face and although my father has no reason to lie to me it is a lot easier to read a man's demeanor when you are face to face you know? I just thought it was a interesting thing to talk about while we wait to see how the Vols respond to Saturday's nightmare.

If we don't get Chip Kelly I'll be furious.

The road to our return to dominance is brightly lit. The path is straight. All we have to do it give the keys to Kelly and enjoy the ride.

Don't overthink this Currie... Play for and make the breaks and when one comes your way - SCORE.

For me it's Chip Kelly or bust. I don't think Gruden would come here so that's why I'm all in on CK. Do I think UT will buck up the $$$ for him?? Nope. Gonna get an up and comer, maybe come after Tony Sanchez at UNLV..that would be the typical UT move

All we can do is hope things are different and they are tired of losing, if not then it will be exactly as you said.

I would take Kelly over Gruden every day of the week. (And I would be ecstatic to get Grude.) Kelly has won big at the college level. He knows recruiting. He's coached much more recently.

I've seen this several times, mostly with Chip, but a few with other names. Exactly what does it mean?

It means they believe we will be right back here again 5 years from now if he isn't hired. Quit being smug, you know what they mean.

I wonder if Chip wouldn't rather go to UCLA if they are in the market for a new coach, which they could easily be after Mora has panned to be like...well Butch.

UCLA just beat a pretty good Colorado team. They've also got the big win over A&M under their belt...I doubt Mora gets fired.

Chip Kelly will accept the u.c.l.a. Job if it becomes available. On west coast, easy recruiting, and pays well, not top level pay, but considering he is being paid a lot to not coach by philly and s.f., enough.

:b****: You don't think any of the games weve lost have been "decisive"? Blowing the east last year? Blowing 4th qtr leads more times than I can remember? SATURDAY?

I think I can do without you call me a b****. It's a forum and we're all just offering opinions.

I gotta admit, UT hiring Chip Kelly would make rival fans sit up and take notice. That guy could come in an take SEC east offenses to a whole new level. Skilled position recruits would probably flock to UT.

I'd just as soon UT hang on to Butch for another few years. We Gators will take our chances against his "situational football, complimentary football, Team 120-something, yelling in the microphone at practice" blah blah blah, silliness...

Bust=burst for those of us speaking the queen's English.

I believe he is saying that if Tennessee fails to hire Kelly, he will literally explode.

Yea and the champions of life, garbage cans, bricks, blah blah blah...we don't blame you.

If Kelly can bring the old crew back from Oregon and hire a great def coordinator then you will and everyone else will take notice for sure.. but it's jus Tennessee luck it will never happen all pipe dreams..

I wonder how Kelly would recruit. I suppose his name/rep could bring us some skill talent--but overall I think he'd find recruiting a lot harder in the SEC than in the Pac12. At Oregon he was in a big region with very little competition from major programs--and had some cachet. Here he would be competing with a bunch of big, blue-chip programs. It's work.

You didn't pull mine either, but since you posted on a public discussion forum, I'll ask...

You seriously don't know what "______ or bust" means?

I know what it means to me. I also know what "momentum, contending for championships and progress" means, to me. But they don't always mean the same around here. I wanted to know what SC meant. That okay?

FYI...

If we has getting calls, he would not be announcing it publicly.

It would disrupt what little is left of the team chemistry.

Most of the time ADs want to keep it quiet till they are ready to announce it.

I thinks whoever hires Kelly will be expecting a national championship no matter where it is. Conference championship will not be good enough.
