Chip Kelly Credits Cutcliffe...

I'm sure advising him to stay away from Tennessee I would imagine, we are a complete dumpster fire and any good coach would not take this job. That said I believe that we will end up with a coordinator to take over the HC position here, that would be the only reason to take it.

He specifically credits Coach Cut during his introductory press conf with advising him to take a job that fits.

Two thoughts on that. One, he really respects Coach Cut and called very wise. Two, did Cut advise him to stay away from TN and wouldn't want to come here either?

What did Coach do for UT? Did he win a National Championship? No, he did not. He transferred to Duke prior to the Championship game and Randy Sanders called the offensive plays in 1998. This being said, would he win a National Championship or could he only bring 7-8 wins a year. The correct answer is 7-8. Let's stop going around the bush to get these coaches who have never won 12 games in their life. We spend 340 million dollars on upgrading a stadium but only want to pay 4-6 million per year and expect to win the National Championship. You get what you pay for. If Texas A & M can hire Jimbo Fisher for a certain amount of dollars why can't we? If Arkansas wants to hire Mike Leach why can't we? It's like we want to build a house, but we want a cheap foundation. Forget some of the upgradings on the stadium and go visit Jimbo Fisher and Mike Leach and ask, "How Much". And pay it. Remember the foundation. Stop settling for second-rate coaches.

Money is not always the main issue.

Cutt is a good coach. I don't think we should be interested in him and I certainly don't think he should be interested in the UT job. He has made himself a very good job at Duke.

Ole Miss fired him because he couldn't win in the SEC.
And he had Eli freaking Manning!

Cutt is a decent coach. Not great but certainly not bad. We could do a heck of a lot worse than him. As a matter of fact we have done worse than him for about 7 years. I would take Cutt at this point. Although I highly doubt he wants anything to do with us.

I doubt we ever contacted Kelly, it’s been widely reported that there was zero communication from Ut towards him, his agent, or any representative of his.
Haslam told Currie he could fire Lyle only if he hired Schiano and that is exactly why there were no leaks. Because we literally contacted No other coaches or their agents or any representative of theirs. We fired Lyle and Currie went and got his briefcase of cash from haslam, spent a week counting it and then headed to the Bahamas. He then came home counted what was left after his spenising spree in the Bahamas and then went to Columbus to hire haslams coach.

That’s how this coaching search went and that’s why there wasn’t a single leak. Say what you want about Currie running a tight ship but he can’t keep the secretary of an agent from leaking info or even that agent to try and get a bidding war for his client. The reason was there was no leaks was because there was no search, there were no other options, it was Schiano and damn the fan base and what they wanted cause they will still buy tickets and merch and will support whoever gets rolled out.

Man we were barely a smoldering dumpster until yesterday. Now the whole damn alleyway is on fire, forget the melted ass dumpster! Currie screwed us royally!

I hope Cutt continues to do well at Duke and retires from there.

He does not need to get in the middle of this mess.

I just hope there are better viable options that remain for UT.
