Chill out guys

He fielded the better roster tonite, at home, and lost by 3 scores going away while his team laid down.

Did UT really field the better roster?

That is the one thing that every pundit could point to: UF had more talent on D than we had on offense. And, offense was our strong suit.

I bought into the hype too: but wishing doesn't make it any different. We don't have the talent that UF does. They won on that talent. It wasn't like Muschamp coached a lights out, infallible game. In fact, his team looked a little discombobulated, bewildered and undisciplined. UF won, because they were more talented.

I don't know why you want to convince yourself otherwise. Actually, yes I do. You want to convince yourself that this is a coach's failure, because that is easier to fix (fire Dooley, hire some "big time" coach and automatically win).

Here is a bit of perspective for everyone: Peyton Manning never beat UF. Read that again, he and the teams he played on NEVER.BEAT.UF. How many people wanted Fulmer fired those four years Peyton played?

Am I saying that Dooley=Fulmer? No. I am saying put things in perspective a little. Understand that losing one game doesn't define a season (unless you are LSU in 2011).

This is the FIRST year we have even had a reasonably deep and talented team (remember it is still short a meaningful senior class). I hope what we saw tonight was a two pronged failure; 1) our boys got a little bit of the big head, being ranked, convincing victories, and 2) UF is still deeper and talented than we are, look at their recruiting classes.

Peyton sucked. Shoulda benched him.

Great points and post!

Get frustrated? This fan base has every
Right to feel the way that they do. Tennessee football is an embarrassment. If you are okay with this crap you are part of the problem, not the solution.

An optimistic fan is a part of the problem with the program?? GTFO. That's borderline retarded. Take a pill and realize there's more to life than football.

And by the way, if you can't see the attrition problems and the effect of having 3 head coaches in 3 years can affect the program, then you're a part of the problem. Go to bed.

Those Manning teams still competed for titles however. They were still winning 10+ games a year. The problem most fans have is they don't see any light at the end of the tunnel.

Fulmer was also going 11-1 at the time. But, of course, there's always some excuse for Dooley to be made. It's never his fault.

Do you not realize how bad this roster was when he got here?

Coaching doesnt turn fat joe into peyton manning.

This team is still the best its been in 5 years, minimum.

If you don't see it now, you never will. It's not year zero. Where we were 3 years ago. The excuses are gone.

Y'all didn't see the same game I just watched. Had Florida cleaned up their penalties in the first half, if would have been embarrassing BEFORE halftime...

The penalties in the first half for Florida were them hanging all over our jerseys?! Had Florida "cleaned up their penalties" and not held us, we'd run the score up on them.

Yeah, I remember watching the four national championships in a row he played on. ;)

Peyton was great, those teams were good (unless we played UF or Nebraska or Memphis).

I say again, teams lose. It happens. Even the announcers admitted that this UT team is better than last years. I think this season will be a huge improvement.

Believe me, I hate this loss. I married a damn gator, so I never hear the end of it (by the way, when we were dating UT beat UF both years, so I didn't see this coming).

Those Florida teams Peyton faced were much better teams than the Florida teams Dooley has lost to. And Florida had Spurrier back then.

This year's UF team could still be a giant killer, so I won't agree with you there. Last year's UF team was mediocre (Demps, Rainy, et al), but we had basically freshman and sophomores playing. It isn't like we have had equal talent, we haven't.

I don't have to reach very far to convince myself anymore.

Hiring some "big time" coach is irrelevant in regards to the current coaches ability. If you need that to convince yourself that Dooley is the man for UT right now feel free.

I am not making excuses for anyone. I am saying that I will totally agree with anyone on here who says that Dooley should be gone if we go 5-7 this year. Right now, we are 2-1 so unless you are saying that we should fire Dooley tonight, what exactly would you do?

I don't think so X2!!!!!!!! Time will tell........

Those that do will find out that it's a train.

Given, I'm not an expert on the game of football; however, it seems to me that the Gators had more play schemes than the Vols could answer. They kept pulling things out of the box! Different plays -- different ways to move the ball. Somebody knew something that our Coaching Staff did not know or could imagine! That's not on Dooley; that's on Chaney and "Sal"--They have the talent -- you either develop it or you don't -- you either give them some plays to work with or you don't! Seems to me that they choose "don't". Look at film until your eyes glaze over; however at the end of the day (play) -- you got to have an answer! The answer was creativity!!! BRAY, please stop just throwing the ball based on some route that you assume will work out! The offense gave you plenty if time to look down the field and throw to someone who had a realistic possibility of catching te ball -- see THAT person! PLEASE!!!

It is irrelevant for several reasons: 1) Dooley, no matter how much you want him to be, will not be fired tonight, tomorrow or next week (barring any sort of Sandusky type revelations), 2) if you don't give a coach a minimum of 3 years, you are just setting yourself back further. Big name coaches aren't going to stake their reputation on taking a job knowing they won't have any time to install their own system.

I don't know if Dooley is the man for the job. Personally I like him, but that doesn't make him a good coach.

I am now, and have been, willing to give the guy through this season with my full support. At the end of this season, I will look back and decide how I feel. As narcissistic as I am, I have to admit that I have no say-so in this, regardless.

Perhaps you should realize the same?

If it's on Sal and Chaney then it's on Dooley also....... Bottom line.......
